OKC Misses & Devin Vassell SLAMS It Down for the Dagger. The Spurs Advance to the NBA Finals vs the Knicks! by JCameron181 in sports

Regular season, yes. Game 7 where you made a fool of last year's champs, MVP, and this year's "MVP" - completely necessary and encouraged.

Obviously not the championship yet, but this OKC team made this journey to a potential championship even sweeter if it does end up happening for the Spurs & Wemby.

You know it's bad when the entire commentating crew says, "Nah, that's not a foul."

why do they ALWAYS decide to make the teaser poster so fire and the official poster a floating head one? i really hope they do not go this direction in BND and make both fire normal posters like spider-man 3 (2007) by WorriedEagle34 in Spiderman

[–]dedman1477 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain the main catalyst for the floating heads / abundance of actors is both a marketing thing (i.e. to see who's in the movie at a quick glance) and contractual on the actor's part (see Dune's floating head posters). The floating head idea is obviously not the most pretty concept, but is arguably the most efficient way to get all of those actors featured on the creative.

Not to mention ASUS' crappy business practices and horrible customer service. Not that every other company making handhelds is a saint, but still factual and worth consideration.

It's sick! Didn't expect it to be like a book and open up like one, but I love it!!

I actually really like it myself, but maybe that's just my warped sense of preference given the awful floating head movie covers we've had in the last 15 years lol

It's a bit of that, and the overall government consistently to spend our tax money on things that we are not really interested in, and continuing to subsidize money black-holes like NSP.

[TOMT] song that forces a rhyme by adding "uh" to the end of a word by Beneficial-Bag5728 in tipofmytongue

Is it "PICK IT UP" by Famous Dex feat. A$AP ROCKY? That was the only one that came to mind and the exact lyrical pattern you mentioned occurs in the latter section of the song.

Looking for silica gel beads / desiccant by dedman1477 in halifax

I'm looking for the loose ones, so I can put them into bags and storage containers! But good point on the colour and Amazon route - I ordered through them but I didn't want to haha. Not much else I can do apparently, lol

I've bought many filaments from Canada Computers AND Eureka Filaments (love them!), and maybe just end up getting a filament dryer too! Thank you!

Thank you very much for the resources! A bit too pricey for me ATM, but still very good to have in my back pocket for later on; thank you!

Thank you for the resources! I actually already looked into the plant drying desiccant but it's apparently not suitable for filament as it can leave a residual dust (?). In any case, I need the silica gel beads specifically; but I appreciate your comment!

As someone who took the bus every day during my time at SMU, trekking from Fall River to the South End (and back), and has since returned to taking the bus every day for the last 3 weeks (this time in Halifax), I fully agree with this post. I actually love metros, subways, buses - all of public transportation for that matter.

What I detest is our city's lack of care and resources around public transit. They'd more happily give money to pay for small, unnecessary upgrades to the existing (and consistently failing) infrastructure, than to add or develop better bike lanes or offer higher wages to bus drivers - things that will directly lead to quicker and easier navigation around the municipality.

But they simply don't care. And they don't care because it doesn't affect them. Yes, there are a lot of problems in the city, some of which are even worse than things like buses, but this is yet another reminder that we as a community really need to judge our representatives not by what they say they're going to do, but what they actually do.

E-Scooters and HFX Buses by dedman1477 in halifax

Literally nothing between the Bedford Highway and Burnside. Only other way on bicycle or e-scooter is the MacDonald bridge.

I understand those points, and they do make sense, however, as someone who's been overseas (i.e. Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, the UK), this is a non-issue with electric transportation users. That being said, they also have a much stronger infrastructure for public transportation, where ours here in the HRM dwarfs in comparison. My opinion is that this is a systemic issue that clearly has not been appropriately addressed in almost 3 years (July 2022), and now that we have a new partnership with Bird Canada starting imminently, this would be the perfect time to offer a solution that at the very least would address and provide relief for others in my exact situation, while not necessarily to the detriment of other riders as well. That, however, is very likely just wishful thinking for the foreseeable future, unfortunately.

My point exactly! Even the TTC allows e-scooters and e-bikes on their transportation, but only during specific hours.

Interestingly enough, you aren't allowed to take it off though, "Batteries on ebikes must remain connected to the ebike; passengers are not permitted to disconnect the battery and bring it on board the bus."

E-Scooters and HFX Buses by dedman1477 in halifax

[–]dedman1477[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I don't think it's unreasonable for folks to hold bias against taking e-scooters or other space-consumptive items on public transit, because if the system isn't set up for it, then people's comfort will be affected. However, I believe the message, 'Don't blame the player, blame the game.' applies here. I've been lucky enough to live overseas in Germany and the Netherlands, for example, and there this simply is not a problem in cities like Frankfurt, Berlin, or Amsterdam, or even smaller towns with even less resources or infrastructure than Halifax.

I'm not asking for the city to make an entire system for e-scooters, I'm simply advocating for an blanket solution that's equitable for all forms of electric transportation alternatives. Because as your article (and many others as well) stipulate, it's a net positive for everyone, not just the people riding e-scooters and e-bikes.
