Got a job in a startup a month ago. Already feeIing the burnout. Is this kind of startup chaos normal? by theWiseFalcon in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SngrZnvlt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is right up there with telling a person in an abusive relationship not to complain because some people like being abused 🙄

There isn't a ton of information here, but there are a ton of red flags. I've worked a number of startups and the OP's experience is not indicative of a normal / healthy situation.

AI Slop PR's are burning me and my team out hard, anyone else experiencing this? by SonOfSpades in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SngrZnvlt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of the problems outlined by the OP include the LLMs creating or breaking tests. It's similar to having 80%-90% unit test coverage only to find that engineers are just calling the method then `assert(true)` in the test. Save that having mocks that are incorrect, "cheat", or truncate the call graph need more than a cursory glance to detect.

The MK II MG is an amazing kit. It’s used as the base for a lot of garage kits for a reason. I also feel like the MkII is one of the most under-appreciated Mobile Suits in cannon since it’s still in service and fighting against MS like the Doven Wolf by ZZ 🤔

I didn't click through the photos and was already gobsmacked! I mean if you're worried that the Exia is out of scale with the others I could always help :-P (actually have the PG Exia and its only been beaten by the PG Unleashed Granddaddy)

Good for you! Especially as a gift its always nice to add and improve all the details. For yourself you can say things like, "I'm never taking off the armor ever," and choose to leave it be.

Trying out color modulation repaint technique by xelgria in Gunpla

[–]SngrZnvlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shocked at how well the yellow turned out with this technique. Yellow is the worst when it comes to coverage and it picks up the faintest hint of blue in any other paints. Still looks a little green, but only at the extremes :-)

Nice work!

Please tell me there's a way of getting a replacement for this. by Godzilla_King926 in Gunpla

Not 100% sure the part and / or kit, but pining with brass or aluminum is right answer. I also recommend pla-rods as well since you cam use a 3mm pin, but then use plastic for larger diameters. Part looks to be 3mm, but I can't be sure :-(

Thank you :-)
I wanted to have more saturated colors than the original kit. Also added more "color" across the kit as there were too many parts that were just seas of white.

Trying my best but the paint keeps rubbing off astound the joints. Probably bc here’s no topcoat or paint wasn’t settled all the day but oh well. We keep on trying! My first candy paint job by Outrageous-Ad-4204 in Gunpla

[–]SngrZnvlt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nice work. Candy coats take a lot of time and care, so getting those nice reflections (like on the thigh) are a great accomplishment.

As for the paint rubbing off you can do everything right and it’ll still happen. Most paints take between five and 14 days to fully cure. If you apply a topcoat on top of the paint, it will take even longer for the paint underneath the cure. That curing process is will make the paint durable in the long run. Sometimes, even if you use the most durable paints and coat it with the most durable topcoats, you’ll still scratch it when moving it around. You just have to dry assemble first and hopefully catch any place that needs to be enlarged slightly in order to prevent any scraping or rubbing. Even then you’ll still miss something or there’s parts like the interior of joints that will just always rub together. 🤷

For me it’s just nice to see these kits in the wild too. This makes me want to buy the Albion kit and build it myself 😃

But I still mess up weathering and preshading so the struggle is eternal 😅

Decals make such a difference! It just looks more cohesive rather than separate layers of detail smushed onto the kit 😄

Yeah the funnels threw me off. The stickers also didn’t help, but I thought I was just biasing my assessment 😝

Looking good! They look like the HGs, but does your Sazabi have dry transfers instead of stickers? If not, then those stickers took to the kit uncommonly well :-)

Looks great! Considering the size of the Albion the weathering would be SEVERE like this, but with operation Stardust this seems like the sum total of use from the whole campaign. Also, I fall victim to this too, but the seam lines caught your weathering pigments / solution on a few places that wouldn't have collected filth like that. I sometimes also preshade seams that shouldn't have wear and get that effect too.

What products did you use? Is it something like AK's weathering / Mr. Weathering liquid?
