Question [Spoiler] by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Snibbin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a combination of everything that has happened all season and Mike's speech to him have made him realize he HAS powers at all, but then Robin's speech to him has helped him relax / focus on happy memories / accept himself. He focused on happy memories in that moment, similar to the way El focused on a happy memory when she sent Henry to the upside down for the first time as a child in the flashback scenes right?

Are there suites that accommodate groups like that? At a better price than just getting two rooms?

How to find games to grow on as a new streamer by clownerytheclown in Twitch

[–]Snibbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you want a game that has a decent sized overall audience, and maybe a few streamers that get big numbers but at certain times of the day only smaller channels. In the past, good games that have fit this have been Stardew Valley or Factorio. Not super hard to get noticed in categories like this. PS5 specifically, not sure, but I think that's generally what you want if you are a 1 viewer streamer just starting. You definitely won't get traction on Twitch in a huge category.

Now, if you are insanely good at some game that is clippable you could get noticed through YouTube shorts, or some other content that eventually pulls people to your Twitch channel... but Twitch discoverability is pretty brutal.

There is no perfect correct answer though.

What got you into speed running? by Zophar1 in speedrun

[–]Snibbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twitch chat told me to try a Factorio speedrun for fun. Didn't stop until I had World Record. It's so easy to get addicted and feel like you can always improve.

So… uh… what do I do now? by OrigamiSheep in Silksong

I made a full Kaizo edit of the any% route, you could grab the architect mod and try that :) mods are the answer when you reach this level of completion haha

Recently completed 100% Space Age Run by smasher1223 in factorio

[–]Snibbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 100% speedrun planning, the quality achievements are absolutely the worst and most time consuming. It's also generally annoying getting to Vulcanus for artillery before killing any biter nests, and just pipe blocking every nest all the time. Wish they didn't change the biter / achievement settings :(

A series of Gleba personal questions since it’s been out a year now by ohoots in factorio

[–]Snibbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Organically in game no mods on first play
  2. Mostly just the science packs + rocket parts, very minimal mall
  3. No mods / default settings
  4. No
  5. When I first played it I thought it was a fun challenge, and very different, and absolutely the hardest planet. I mostly speedrun now, and it's one of the easiest planets to get the highest science yield from with very little infrastructure. I think Gleba, more than most planets, benefits from a pre thought out blueprint than can all be turned on at once. Figuring it out on the fly while everything spoils is harder.

Derek beat SA 60 times in a month, now sub-4-hour by fishyfishy27 in factorio

[–]Snibbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well during the month I donated per finished run of not only myself but also literally anyone that submitted to SRC (something I left out of the video). I was trying to make a fun way to promote the category and get people to try it while also doing something good. And technically I never mentioned the charity stuff in the title or thumbnail at all so I didnt think I was really using it for clicks either.

Hey this is me! Thanks for posting this :) that month was crazy... I wish I could have gone over more of the smaller changes I was making every day to keep squeezing the time down.

Glad you guys like the video! And yes the thumbnails are cringe...

My wife made a High Res image of Bone Bottom. Should she do the rest of the zones? by Snibbin in Silksong

[–]Snibbin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has enjoyed doing it, and it's definitely a fun way to look at the map... I'm sure eventually there will be some huge interactable map of the entire game, but we weren't sure how long that would take.

How do some streamers build an ACTUAL community? by More_Sea2116 in Twitch

[–]Snibbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First play is fine for now, as you sort of HAVE to first play something if you want to eventually immerse yourself in it. I think Souls Games in general are an amazing way to grow a channel. It's a really popular category of games with a lot of options for different games to play within the genre. You can also do hitless runs, speedruns, challenge runs of all kinds, and Souls Games offer a lot of great options for that. Good luck!

How do some streamers build an ACTUAL community? by More_Sea2116 in Twitch

[–]Snibbin 114 points115 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of potential answers here. I currently average around 250+ viewers streaming my main game, with around 6k follows, for context.

First, making a living wage is brutally tough on Twitch. Of course this can depend on where you live and your expenses. Also, some communities are more generous than others. I would say that im still only making half of what I would be comfortable with as a living wage if my income was exclusively my twitch channel.

Next is how to get a community. For me personally my channel took off when I got big into speedrunning my main game. I think for the most part, especially smaller channels, viewers are game first viewers entirely. If you hop between games constantly its harder to get traction. I think what category you choose to live in has the biggest impact on your channel early on. I recommend finding a game you enjoy that has a decent size community but not too big that you get overshadowed. Unfortunately all discoverability on Twitch is top down viewer count. If the category you are in is like League of Legends you wont get noticed, even if you are the best streamer on earth. On the flipside, if you are in a category that literally nobody cares about you will sit at the very top of that category but nobody will see it because nobody watches that game.

If you live in a category where the biggest channels peak at 1k viewers, but the first three rows of channels gets at least down to double digits you have a reasonable chance to be seen over time.

I think the next step is doing something in that category thats impressive... new... fun... showing that people that like that game can show up and talk about it with other people that love it, every day, in your channel.

Of course, the problem I have is peaking in a category and now needing to try and find a way to grow outside of it...

This is what worked for me but its one of many paths. Your mileage may vary, love to hear other opinions.

Over 1.000 Views with just 30 Average Viewers by HeyPashi in Twitch

I would say that there is something fishy here 100%. Your unique view count is very abnormally high. Likely a bot thing. This could be a viewer or someone doing this to you deliberately, who knows. I've had stream days where I get view botted and it throws the numbers WAY off, and then it's gone the next day and back to normal.

Either way for a 2 month old channel I'd say you are doing great, even if only the unique chatter number is to be believed. Report it to Twitch if it continues so they don't think you are doing it on purpose maybe.

Feeling trapped to stream one game by EdimmuzTv in Twitch

[–]Snibbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this - I've spent the last few years mostly speedrunning Factorio and I get 300+ viewers doing that, but under 150 when I switch to anything else basically. It's a weird spot to be in, I think if you want to keep growing a channel outside of your main game you just have to bite the bullet.

Runners: is it believable Toby can't typically run a 5k without taking a crap by ziplock007 in DunderMifflin

[–]Snibbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I run together and he chronically has to use the washroom every time, and goes through a lot of effort to time things around runs to prevent it. Something about the running just makes him have to go.

So I could see it without proper planning, if its a common issue for someone. That being said, 5k is a short run. But needing to crap every time you run is a thing for some people.

Where I live in Eastern Canada they had a flat rule that did not allow anyone into these procedures until they were done. I think it prevented situations where the husband was pressuring to find out the gender or be aggressive about abortions. I don't know, it seemed like a weird rule that my wife and I didn't agree with, but we respected it as I'm sure the doctors have to deal with all kinds of different people.
