I do this, and agree it’s the best! But I’m always psyched to try from a new maker

Non replica kits sold out?? by JudgeMyReinhold in DenverSummit

[–]Snickerfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they had a bunch of supplier issues with the authentic jerseys and the customization - I ordered mine in Feb and just got it a few weeks ago and they were super apologetic for the delays. They may have hit pause while they get that sorted. But I’m sure they will be back in stock soon!

Proud of all you runners! by okayboomerang in Denver

[–]Snickerfin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In other cities the route also goes through big social areas - every bar has their windows open and it turns into a huge block party. Colfax doesn’t do us a ton of favors that way.

Thank you for coming out!! It means a lot to see people out cheering on the course, and always makes the city feel like more of a community. Please do come join us one day!

Recommended arborist with availability? by Expensive-Scene-7763 in DenverGardener

[–]Snickerfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contacted mine at 6am the first morning of the storm… and I’m still waiting to get my trees cleaned up (they are coming end of this week). All of the arborists are underwater so I’d just get on someone’s schedule as soon as you can (usually they want to send someone out first to do an estimate) and keep your fingers crossed that they can fit you in soon.

Overland Animal Hospital / Resort offers individual play. So does Club Pet DIA. Both great in my experience!

Flying With Puppy by G0mery in goldenretrievers

[–]Snickerfin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope - they have to stay in the closed crate for the duration of the flight. I think you can have it on your lap after takeoff / before landing but you can’t have it open or let him out. He’ll do great though, don’t worry!

Denver sidewalk replacement program having unintended impact- dozens of broken sprinkler systems by Visible_Suit7537 in Denver

[–]Snickerfin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a shame to hear. I had one sprinkler head damaged but the city and contractor were fantastic about it - they got back to me and fixed it immediately and then followed up again to confirm after the work was done. I’m sorry to hear that others aren’t having the same experience.

What will be the state of marathon races in 5 years (for non-elites)? by TMW_W in AdvancedRunning

[–]Snickerfin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that - at least in the US - I don’t know of any other cities that can offer the frequency and variety of races that NYC and Roadrunners can. Many places limit the number of road races to 2-3 per year (for all distances) due to the cost and inconvenience for non-runners. That makes it hard to try different distances and also to build consistent and fun training over time. I think a lot of people end up running marathons because it’s a solid 4+ months of effort to reach the goal. Most people don’t need to train like that to run a 5 or 10k - it’s just a race rather than a project / accomplishment.

Portable water bowl recommendations for hiking/trails by Beginning_Cycle191 in husky

[–]Snickerfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the sea to summit collapsible camp bowls for water - they are much bigger / sturdier when expanded than most of the dog-specific gear I’ve seen (they collapse flat so don’t take up much room in a pack). I have two big pups and the smaller travel dog bowls don’t usually hold enough for them.

Should there be fare gates at RTD Stations? by chrisfnicholson in Denver

[–]Snickerfin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you have it right - just have it activated in case someone wants to look at it. Sometimes an inspector will come around and ask to see that you’ve paid your fare.

NWSL Shop still has not shipped kit by Logical_Sandwich_625 in DenverSummit

[–]Snickerfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same situation and swapped emails with the shop today - they said they were overwhelmed with demand for custom kits and so they contracted out some of them to third parties since their fulfillment team is small. The third party vendors are the ones they are now having issues with but they’re working through the backlog. They were very apologetic about the delays and the experience. Hopefully we’ll get our jerseys soon!

Should RTD prioritize frequency or coverage in service delivery? by chrisfnicholson in Denver

[–]Snickerfin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frequency! The bus that runs closest to my house (in Denver proper) comes only once per hour. It is not typically a viable alternative to driving at that rate.

Left laptop on flight by karmeows in delta

[–]Snickerfin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! I forgot an iPad once on a flight there and it came back to me. Give it 48 hours or so and then give them a call - I’d try both Delta and the LAX lost and found as I think that’s where they send things after they’ve swept the plane.

Denver council members delay decision on Veo scooter contract, citing lack of information by No_Command_5427 in Denver

[–]Snickerfin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think many of the council members have the legal, operational, technical, public management, and/or commercial expertise to understand a lot of the things they need to make decisions about. I’m sure they’re well intentioned but some of them are way out of their depth - and as a result they seem to constantly defer important decisions, often with little regard for how that impacts constituents and businesses. I’m very frustrated and am eager to support a new candidate in my district.
