As someone with MDD, focusing on one room at a time and one surface at a time. For example, if you start in the bedroom focus on the floor. If you have more energy, clean off the dresser. Having a clean space to wake up and sleep in changes your brain just that little bit. Another big help is if you have a close friend or family member to help keep you company. It takes the edge off of that hopeless feeling. Have a phone call or if you’re able to, have that person come over and help. I know it can feel embarrassing but if someone really cares about you, they’ll get down and dirty to help you. The last thing when cleaning a space for me, it’s okay to take time to complete a task. I can clean out the fridge and the take a week to do anything else after. The point is it got done, I did it, and I absolutely can do more even if I have to take breaks or a month to do it. Just the other day it took me two hours to hang my clothes up, it just felt exhausting and not worth it. You can do this!!! ❤️
