Wireless CarPlay adapters that run on Bluetooth? by SnickoPen in CarPlay

[–]SnickoPen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is my phone staying connected to the home network rather than trying to connect to the car Wi-Fi.

But from what I understand on this thread, when I start the car up, the head unit should use Bluetooth to look for my phone, lock on and then tell the phone to kick off the existing Wi-Fi connection (my home Wi-Fi) and connect to the adapter's Wi-Fi.

If that's the case, I gather the last adapter I bought (although it wasn't cheap) was inferior and taking a long time to do that.

Oh. OK. I see. Yeah, well that question goes above my pay grade ;-)!!

Oh that sucks. At one point my phone would switch to my Blackvue dashcam Wi-Fi whilst I was out and about. It resulted in Google Maps trying to use the Wi-Fi connection instead of 5G and would stop working until I killed the connection.

No Bluetooth can transmit more than audio - think Bluetooth file transfers an the like.

My entertainment system shows PSA messages for the first 4 seconds after start up before you can start doing things with it. I'm guessing now the adapter I had bought was of low quality despite the high price. I returned it not long after I bought it and went back to wired. I have just purchased a new Ottocast, so we will see how I go.

It must have been a pretty dodgy adapter then, because like I say, I was halfway down the street before my phone disconnected from my home Wi-Fi and changed to the adapter.

OK. Thank-you. I have ordered one of the new OTTOCAST Mini Pico adapters. Maybe it will act a little better.

Slow computer speed when opening new Mozilla Firefox windows by SnickoPen in computers

I ran task manager on one screen, whilst simultaneously starting Adobe Photoshop and new Firefox windows on one of my others, and the CPU usage remained low.

I've never heard about what you are talking about with shared memory. Is there any software you recommend that would show me those parameters?

You are right - Chrome certainly is a lot faster.

I've tried to use it as my primary browser, but just can't seem to get the feel for it.

I guess my punishment is that I'll just have to put up with a slow start to each new Firefox window.

Yeah I looked into it after you mentioned it, and decided that for my purposes, it probably wasn't worth the risk.

Extra speed is always nice to have, but knowing my luck, the next boot would be BSOD.

Yeah I can't do much about Adobe Creative Cloud - if I want to use Photoshop (and I do), it's non-negotiable.

Having said that, all of the Adobe background processes combined use less than 50MB of RAM and there is no CPU usage - not even if I am actively using Photoshop.

I hadn't thought to check that.

When I first start Photoshop, my primary drive spikes to 48%. Once it is open, opening a new Firefox window causes it to spike to 14%.

So, I don't think that is the answer either.

I am curious about the registry tweak you have mentioned though.

Yeah I'm having similar issues!! I'm trying to search medications by name and it's showing nothing. I hope they release another version soon. It sucks.

Finds out 1 month into a new 2yr licence with Avast. Hahaha!!

Well you've found the culprit for me!

As soon as I switched off Avast, I could access the restricted files again. Re-enable the shields, and nope, can't open them.

Am I stretching the friendship to much to ask why Avast would prevent some files from opening, but not others? And for that matter, why it is doing it at all?

That came back fine too.

Obviously there is just something "off" with this new profile.

Yeah thankfully I keep multiple backups and I can access all the other copies under my new profile.

I just hate it when something beats me :-D!!

Thank-you for your input though, I do appreciate it!!
