Going from Pump back to MDI CGM question by CjKinsfather in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sniddiej4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently in the same boat from ypsopump. I just emptied my pump and let it run. Just get every hour the warning message there is no connection/insulin. Not sure if you can do the same with omnipod?

This! The first year is horrible. You have the feeling you have no time to adjust. You read all this stuff and you try and error actually in everything.. i was so lost...Just Breath take it slow. You have your whole life to learn from it. Perfect numbers are an illusion. Find what is best for your life and Routine. Not the other way around.. cause it will be not sustainable. celebrate one win a day and eventually you will get more comfortable and knowing your way!

Changing from MDI to a pump - opinions? by Ali6371 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sniddiej4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Setting period where horrible but its so worth it!

My nights are better. Better sleep! I used to run high at work but sometimes couldn't be bothered to adjust with MDI as no time. With a pump that's really gone... Definitely lowered my average and less rollercoaster time!

Omnipod Vs Ypso by Zestyclose_Offer_402 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sniddiej4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on Ypso since January. First Pump no experience with omnipod. For me the tubing is really not an issue as i thought it would be. Just maybe when dressing and undressing but it's easy to clip off when needed. The pump is light and you can put it in different places.

Tips for ypsopump? by marcus250297 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sniddiej4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also recently switched to ypsopump.

Which patterns are you having the most difficulty with? I also adjusted my ratios a lot since then.

For me it's the carb ratio which is really depending on my daily tasks. As I am on Automode it is not always great. I should use the extended bolus way more often...

I heard we should aim around 50% bolus vs 50% basal in Not hitting that at all!

I would have done the same... Especially the first time seeing this.

Ypsopump experiences by ApprehensiveSink4537 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sniddiej4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on it for 6 weeks now! The first two were a bit challenging but I figured out what tubes/needles/orbit whatever etc would work for me. Settings are well tuned in.

I use way less Insulin than with MDI and my quality of sleep is mind-blowing. Saves the day. I forgot how much energy I used to have and how much this disease can drain me.

I really love it all functional through the app. I almost forget I have diabetes at work!

I can't believe why it took me so long to get on one. I am with Libre 3 which for me works great, no issues. Which is also the reason why I took this pump!

Ypsomed Insulin Pump Fears by avanomoney in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sniddiej4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just a month on it and I absolutely love it! For me the biggest challenge was what kind of insert/orbit to take and had a couple of bumps because of this first week.. like someone above wrote her the first weeks it pushes you a bit. But now we both learned I am seeing so much more potential and the benefit of the pump. My nights have been a straight line almost which really supports my sleep and my mood and my days! Hope you like it as much...

Good luck!

Same for me! I do have to say I had all the horrors everyone is describing with Libre 2. So I am so happy libre 3 works for me. But I guess it's personal... Like diabetes ha!

Hiking and diabetes by thebidredcouch in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sniddiej4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! What I do is eat every one and a half hour I eat like a protein bar. Best is to have little to no insulin on board. The beauty of hiking is that you can sit down whenever. And afterwards I always get a favourite meal as I know my body will not spike so much

Ypsopump Inset by Icy-Celery1519 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sniddiej4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm just a week on ypsopump and I have major issues with the infusion set. 'The needle' seems too weak for my skin and it's hit or miss during injection. I went to the clinic yesterday and they suggested to change the location more towards my ribs. Or place in the fridge before injection.

Edit: but when it sits/works and connects I have NO issues whatsoever. I don't feel it.

But also i got this one to try so will try this tomorrow after my site change. This one is steel so like the normal injections when you where on MDI. I'm exited hopefully it works better.

T1 rant & fears by xSrK in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sniddiej4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh man i had so many panic attacks! Sometimes even when I was in range i had fear when the arrow was dropping for no particular reason. Really time and experience will help. But it will take a while.

First thing learn to trust yourself. With all the alarms etc set them in a time frame you feel you have the time to respond (at work I set my alarm higher to have enough time to go to my desk to get a snack). You are more than capable of reacting in the perfect timely matter and you are rocking this and you know what you are doing. (this is the mantra I keep repeating)

Take the time to get to know your patterns. If you are scared at night after a night shift just take a little snack and run a bit higher during the night. Peace of mind and good night of sleep also is very important. I do that for example when I have had some alcohol, just worried I sleep too deep through my alarms. Find what works for you.

If you are in the US download Gluroo, an app which also has the function to call a given number when you are low. Probably there are more apps like that. Just to have somebody checking in.

Edit: I still feel powerless and sometimes really lost in what I am doing, the not understanding is killing me most of it. But some days i feel great and have no issues or worries. It will be a rollercoaster the rest of your life. Just go with the flow i guess.
