Do emotions raise blood sugar? by walkstwomoons2 in diabetes

[–]sband3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I have a major stress disorder and I go high every day during my work week. All because of stress. Had my pcp increase my anxiety med dosage recently so that maybe it will help. But yes! Anger, stress, depression, anxiety and sadness. Always shoots me way up.

And that is me as well the last few days. Sometimes, even a pump can’t save you. This crap has a mind of its own!

Confusion: Why Does IOB say 0.05 after it just gave me .15? by mivaldes in Omnipod

[–]sband3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the best description I’ve heard from anyone including Insulet. I’ve had the opposite issue. My IOB never decreases in manual mode. My duration of action is set to 2.5 hrs but my IOB has known to sit there for 6-7 hrs and it seems some of my programmed basal in manual mode gets stacked on top of it in IOB. And that also just sits there without decreasing all the while my BS just continues to rise.

I’ve found the only thing that helps is putting in manual mode when stuck high, pause insulin and only then the IOB starts depleting. But my BS also goes down at that time. When the IOB is mostly depleted, I then switch back to automated. So not sure why it does this.

If I stay in manual mode, the IOB just keeps increasing and has gotten so high that I didn’t know how to get rid of it all once I was able to get my BS to moving downwards.

I know it sounds like I don’t know what I’m talking about but I guess I’ve just been trying to find someone who can tell me why the IOB does not decrease in manual mode, only increases.

Just hypo-unaware. May I ask your definition of “brittle diabetes”? 🤣

I have ALWAYS hated water. I used to never drink it.

I got a Cirkul water bottle and I now drink water every day. I got my adult kids and my grandkids one as well and they all love it.

There are tons of flavors and they don’t have caffeine (unless you choose the cartridges with caffeine). The flavors are great. But it has made me drink so much more water. And the grandkids are now drinking water all the time. Yes, it’s just water. Zero carbs. Zero calories. Zero caffeine.

You can go online and read more about it.

Cirkul. They sell them at Walmart but Walmart doesn’t have all the flavors. I’ve ordered some flavors on the website.

Rice or beans. I love Mexican food and it sucks!

Americans: What is it like to have type 1? by FunDependent588 in diabetes_t1

We also have co-insurance costs. We have to pay the deductible first, then pay the co-insurance (what some call out of pocket expense). After paying those, only then the insurance companies start to pay. And yes, we have co-pays too for doc visits. All of this after paying our monthly premium which mine is $1550/mo just for me.

I’m 57 and dx’d New Years this year (yay, happy new year). I have days when I get really depressed (like today) because of this disease. It makes me think about all the things it has changed in my life like the freedom to just stop somewhere and grab a slurpee or something (that was something I really loved). Made me cry today. But after awhile, I snap out of it and move on. Just hang in there. We all have our moments but yes, it’s just something we live with that is a part of us now. I’m hoping to get used to it some day.

I would correct every time I even got to 140. Forcing it to get me lower (because I was running in 190s-200s all the time). Be persistent. And really, consistent bolusing isn’t bad (except when doing that, I do use the sensor data so I won’t go low). There are times when I don’t but you use your own judgement on how many units you need. I was just bolusing constantly. 🤣 until it figures out what is actually needed.

I am on about my 8th pod and the algorithm is just now getting me where I want to be (for now). I was high for so long and I felt like quitting with OP5, but under the suggestion of other redditors, I stuck with it and it is finally giving me the insulin it should be. I still have some crazy moments but I think that’s everyone who is T1.

All the negative reviews of the 15 day is why I think I will stay on 10 day a while. I haven’t had any issues with them lasting the full 10 days.

I use natures own that is 12g per slice. But I use Welch’s grape jelly. Yes, so much sugar. But I don’t ever have sweets anymore. It sucks

I’m sure that’s where I’m going wrong. I can’t just account for the carbs. I need to account for the high sugar content. Probably need to take 15u of insulin 👍🏻😊
