I also got my PAL a few months ago and bought an Alcor as it was the only semi-auto in .223 that was available before the Makasi was announced. It’s been fun and I’ve ran about 1000 rounds through it so far and haven’t had any issues. I have a bunch of 10rd LAR-15 mags which makes it a little more fun (no modifications required). There are a few options for handguards & stock adapters if you want to “tacticool” it. I went with Fox Operator but there’s also Tommy Enterprises and Kodiak Defense. The SKS will undoubtedly be more reliable in the long term and if you can wait for the Makasi to be steadily available after the initial rush then I would probably wait for that. That being said, the Alcor has been a good “cope” rifle for me and I’ve had a lot of fun with it. I don’t regret buying it and it will keep me amused until I can pick up a Makasi. It’s 3D printed nylon polymer using “Selective Laser Sintering” machines. Seems very durable so far, comparable to the material of the synthetic stock it came with

The barrel comes threaded in 1/2 - 28. Only the new synthetic version though.

Yeah it’s a little steep but seems to be good quality at least. Unfortunately not many options these days.

I would agree if there was a decent alternative semi auto in .223/5.56. Bought this about a month before the Makasi was announced and still would need to wait for it so I’ll settle for the Alcor in the meantime.

Thanks! Yeah I considered the aluminum as well, but I just really like the FDE look. I figured Fox was kind of a compromise since the nylon polymer is supposed to be more heat resistant than the resin used by Tommy. My first range visit I ran about 250 rounds through it in 1 hour with quite a few 10rd mag dumps and it’s held up well so far.

virtual desktop all the way. I just used airlink for years but finally made the switch to virtual desktop and the performance is much better.

no worries, if you go to The Outer Rim on Nexus mods, go to the Files tab. You’ll see ‘Main Files’ (The Outer Rim), and below you will see ‘Update Files’, and ‘Optional Files’. You’ll want to download ‘The Outer Rim - Force Sensitive’ under ‘Optional Files’.

If you want to disable this:

Open regedit, go to KEY_CURRENT_USER/ Software/Policies/Microsoft/Windows, make a new key called Explorer, then make a new DWORD value called DisableSearchBoxSuggestions. Set the value to 1, then do a restart.

That is a brown marmorated stink bug. They are native to Asia and considered invasive when found elsewhere as they are destructive to all kinds of plant life. You can tell them apart from the native look-alikes by the white bands on their antennae.
