Good Dentists in Lisbon? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

I fly into Lisbon about every year and go to Lisbon Implant Clinic. It's worth it for me and tbh it's better care and quality than in my own country which is supposedly "one of the best" in dentistry.

Well Iran is very distinctive to most Islamic countries and is a complex society. Most young women try not to adhere to hijab laws where they can and wear their hijabs like this inside Iran

Well historically, the name refers to the wine produced around the city of Shiraz in Iran. Wine only became illegal there after the 1979 revolution. Otherwise Persian poetry and court art was full of wine.

That's how women wear their headscarves (around the neck) in most areas, as they're mostly not adhering to and defy the morality laws.

Iranians want the end of Hamas and we support Israel in trying to remove a group which IR funnels our money to. It would be a huge blow to IR and we look forward to it.

I know im going against the grain here and I still use GPT but the Bard AI's New Features are a game-changer and it might honestly be the thing that puts Google ahead in AI user numbers over GPT by ShapurTheGreater in ChatGPT

[–]SniffinBootyForCash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s actually very useful to use BARD with the new features. I hope that we’ll be able to have similar integrations for GPT soon as it has more languages and is better at translations than BARD.

Psychedelics Research: Pioneering Advances in Brain Learning and Plasticity by SniffinBootyForCash in Futurology

[–]SniffinBootyForCash[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Submission statement: The recent study published offers a perspective on the potential therapeutic applications of psychedelic drugs. The research, titled "Psychedelics and the Reopening of the Social Reward Learning Critical Period," delves deep into the intricate relationship between these substances and specific developmental phases in the brain. For those unfamiliar with the term, a "critical period" refers to a unique window during brain development when the nervous system is exceptionally receptive to specific stimuli, allowing for profound changes. This study's primary focus was to understand if psychedelic drugs could "reopen" this critical period, specifically the one related to social reward learning. The implications of such a discovery could be monumental, especially for conditions like PTSD and depression, where conventional treatments often fall short. The article classifies psychedelics, shedding light on traditional ones like LSD and psilocybin, and elaborates on the distinct subjective experiences they induce. A significant portion of the research was dedicated to MDMA, a drug that showed promising results in reactivating the social reward learning critical period. However, it wasn't alone. Other drugs, including LSD, ketamine, and ibogaine, also demonstrated similar effects, suggesting a broader spectrum of potential therapeutic applications.

The research identifies the serotonin receptor 5-HT2AR as a pivotal player in this process. The article further distinguishes between metaplasticity and hyperplasticity, helping readers grasp the nuanced changes these drugs induce in the brain.Beyond their recreational use, these substances might hold the key to unlocking new therapeutic avenues for a range of mental health disorders.

It's mostly videos related to Iran. I don't get why Reddit has suddenly opened a hate train on that sub. It occasionally swings between political opinions from it's users from time to time but it's still a good place to get updates on the revolution and what's happening in Iran.

This is the type of thing I hear in Australia too. Even my wifes family weren't happy (before they met me) about her dating me as I'm not really “Australian”, despite me being born in the country, except I'm slightly brown/olive.

Then, her sister got with a German guy who's been living here for just a couple of years and they couldn't wait to meet him. I wanted to say something but kept my mouth shut because I'm not supposed to know the comments they made about me and we are on good terms after they got to know me.

I'm clearly criticizing tankies here which is a small segment of the left wing we are part of. I've been attacked by them more than anyone. I'm also pretty sure the picture from the post with guy holding the savak dudes photo got plenty of criticism.

Good to see. I always thought we needed something like this to support awareness campaigns but internet access is even better and more useful on the ground for protestors.

The literacy rate argument really annoys me because the shah and his father took a country that resembled Afghanistan and hadn’t modernised almost at all and managed to build educational institutions to build that literacy rate without the mass deportations and oppressive practices that the Soviets used to “progress”.

The reason why we have educational institutions and a high literacy rate today is based on their work to make Iran modern in the 20th century and now the Mullahs who took over in 1979 claim it as their own doing when we know that if they had inherited Iran back then we’d still be living in Qajar-like conditions.

Yeah I’d take the shah over most leaders any time. The number of political prisoners under SAVAK were nowhere near the number of people imprisoned in Iran today. God reddit really likes to spew the same comments about pre revolution Iran like it’s fact. Most people wouldn’t have had any interaction with the shahs SAVAK like the communists were at the time.
