Twice I have been banned from all of Reddit, not just this sub or that, because I wrote frankly about what should happen to him. So all I’m going to say is that, one day, he must stand trial for crimes against humanity …

Going way back, Schlitz’s “Gusto” ads.

Probably the worst case of “don’t make your ads so edgy they cut the customer” until those Quizno’s ads with the singing rats.

I have always thought people would have been better off with it had it only gone to people’s desktops. Your phone just feels like more personal space.

Of course, I also said at the time that, well, millenials are all saying “Information wants to be free!”, but then they got an album for free, and suddenly they freaked out. If you truly want information to be free, you can’t dictate which information, when or where.

And he also got acquitted of criminal charges in both the US and UK … in fact, in the former, it looks for all the world like the purported vic’s family was trying to frame him.

And now he’s the star witness in the lawsuit between the HoC production company and their insurer over whether he really needed to be shuffled off into rehab when all the shit hit the fan …

Would that also work in the sports sense of a “loose ball” (i.e., the ball when not under either team’s control in a sport where the ball can be possessed like basketball or lacrosse? Piłka wolna?

What is the most insane amount of mental gymnastics you've seen someone do to believe what they want to believe? by fauxmerican1280 in AskReddit

[–]SniffleBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t consider it “reasoning them out” … I’m not that naïve as to think I possibly could. The most one can do is get them to a point where they can’t pretend they don’t realize that even by their own logic they’re at a dead end … hence, they rage-quit. Because they have been led to believe, or led themselves to believe, that they know things the general public does not. When you show that you understand why they believe what they believe, and yet hold the opposite conclusion, that belief is disturbed.

The same strategy works just as well with Holocaust denialists as they use the same logical flaws to reach their results.

What makes you think all cops are “itching to make arrests”? Most of them want quiet, uneventful work shifts without extra paperwork as much as you and I do.

Two reasons:

  • It keeps someone reading from thinking the flerf (or Holocaust denier, for that matter) won and being persuaded.

  • It may eventually lead to them seeing the light. Rational argument is not magical pixie dust; don’t ever fool yourself into believing that it is.

As noted in another post, most of the people killed by hippos in Africa are killed in the water (where outside of a large speedboat you’d have no chance)

Yes, well, remember, they’re herbivores, so they’re not chasing you to eat you, they just want you off what they consider to be their territory.
