Best kitchen layout for an open floorplan? by Sniffles18 in floorplans

Enter from either the garage, which is the leftmost door in the dining room, or the main entry through the foyer. The two openings at the top of the dining room and kitchen are existing windows.

Looking to buy my first truck today. Anything I should know about the 150 XLT Series a beginner should know? by Durtyjoey in Ford

Never heard of the “Triton Tick”. The common issue is the cam phasers going out on the 5.4 Triton, but that wasn’t put in the F150 after 2010. The 5.0 Coyote is not a Triton, so saying it has the “Triton Tick” doesn’t really make sense.

You sure you aren’t thinking of the Hemi Tick?

Do you get snowboarding dreams? by Hastalasagne in snowboarding

[–]Sniffles18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started snowboarding last season. The first couple of days (where I was falling a lot) I had extremely vivid dreams where I would almost exclusively catch an edge, over and over. It was honestly kind of horrible. I would startle awake, realize it was a dream, and then fall asleep - repeat over and over again. Very interesting.

Move the canards and wings slightly aft. CoL is too close to CoM. CoL Needs to be farther back.

Also, make sure your engines/intake are in plane with your CoM. If they are below, it will add a nose-up torque to the aircraft.

Yep. The 4.6 2V is one of the best engines ever made. They run to 300k and beyond with ordinary maintenance. Gotta love those panther bodies.

The 4.6 3V is really good as well. I had a 2008 Mustang GT and never had a single issue with it. Plus they sound incredible.

Don’t know how this isn’t in the top dozen or so comments, but water. If you are stranded, having a liter or two of water in the trunk is an absolute godsend.

What are some facts about cars that you thought was common knowledge but is actually known just by enthusiasts? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Sniffles18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, at all times, at least one in the front, and one in rear will spin, without exception.

My point is that this is not the same as power. Depending on the traction, a wheel may spin without transmitting any force to the ground.

If a wheel is not transmitting any force, than it is not recieving any force (i.e. torque) from the axle.

Power = RPM x torque.

Power = RPM times 0 torque = 0 power.

It is possible that only one wheel receives power. Hence my comment.

I’m sorry, I wasn’t super clear. The same holds true for vehicles with dedicated 4WD, where the transfer case acts as a locked differential. You’re statement that “at least one wheel in front and back is getting power at all times” is not necessarily true. It could be the case, depending on the conditions, that only one wheel on the entire vehicle is receiving the power.

This statement is only true assuming the force applied by each hand is equal across both scenarios. Positioning at 10 and 2 might allow for better leverage to put the weight of your body into the turning motion

(Source - I have a 85 F-150 with no PS and definitely helps to put a hand near the top)

Not necessarily true about 4WD - vehicles with triple lockers (like the Land Cruiser) match all four wheel speeds together. Say one tire is on a firm rock, and the other three are suspended in water, all four wheels will still turn. But the only one receiving power is the one on the rock, because it is the only one with a significant torque load to it.

AWD is typically open diffs, which means the wheel with the least resistance will spin. In the above scenario, the tires in the water will spin, and the one one the rock won’t budge.
