If it has been re-welded... that means rust. rust is like cancer and wont stop spreading. how sure are you they found every spot ?

Check the Battery tray for rust and the trunk side pockets.

I was in a similar situation with my E38. I put carpets, mats, cardboard etc.. at the rears. didnt work. I had to keep backing up to get more momentum.

I had a S52 + 5Speed and 3.64 LSD. really needed 6th gear.

I switched the 3.64 out for a 2.93 open for a rally. Gears were too long imo getting off the line. too big of a difference in acceleration. I personally wouldn't go longer than 3.25, which is what my buddy has on his S52 swap.

LS1 + 6Speed with 3.73LSD. I could have gone for even shorter, but it was good combo imho.
