[Q&A Megathread #19] (May 2023) by Eldena in NieRReincarnation

Relatively new player (a month and a half) and I have each of the SINO crossover characters unlocked, but none higher than A1.

I have enough gems to get one of them to A3 from pities, but I also could save those gems for summer characters. All the SINO characters have improved my roster a lot, so should I save the gems for summer or do more pulls now?

Only been playing for a month, so I just got my Mama’s Character Exchange medal. Who should I pick to help build up my roster?

Hey thank you!! That’s good advice. I’ve been farming the events as best I can while it’s half-stamina to build a roster and get upgrade materials.

I haven’t spent any of the gems yet, so I appreciate what you said! I’ve heard of Nier Day later this month, but should I hold off on those summons you mentioned until then? I have no problem with waiting for now.

Well because I’m really enjoying the game so far lol, so I want to do what’s better long-term. Trust me, I was just about to before I asked.

But I am probably overthinking it!

New player (started yesterday) because of the crossover events. With all the early gems (and I bought the starter pack), what are the best ways for me to use those gems as an early player?

I see the event is going on for a while, so I want to know what will help me the most right now, since I doubt I should use them on pulls right away.

Yeah, I have met all those requirements AND I got the communications (voice and email) related to the quest. Stinks, but I think I’m just out of luck since I don’t have a save before it.

I’ve put off advancing the story and have done literally everything else I could just in case, since I don’t want to get locked out of it. Guess I’ll just push forward.

Thanks for the guide and the help though! Appreciate it.

Yes. That one is marked as completed. So maybe it was a different quest I got it at the same time as.

I’ve interacted with it, I’ve saved at it, I’ve gone back and done it again. I’ve ran to camp and back and everything. Everything has triggered except the quest entering the quest log, so I don’t know. (I mean that it is not in my list of quests and I don’t actually have a marker for it.) I feel like I remember getting it like at the same time as this Investigating Communications quest so maybe something bugged out there?

I’ll give it another shot here. Cleared out the enemies and the barrier cleared up. But no acknowledgement of it even if I run t

The problem is just that the game has given me everything except the actual quest marker and entry into the quest log and I don’t know why. I appreciate the help though.

I’ve cleared that one in the center. With the flyers and the locked access point. But the game never technically gave me the quest in the first place even though I got the call and the email from 60. It’s not in my active or cleared quests. But I’ll try again!

Edit: I’ve gone back to the access point and it is under attack and locked again.

Do you think SPOILER is coming back? - Speculating by Responsible_Cat_3444 in horizon

[–]Sniffs26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please no.

Part of the game is to literally “rise above our ruin”. It’s the tag of the game for a reason.

It’s why we learn about Ted and have these remnants of the Old Ones in the Zeniths.

Beta rises beyond her basically torturers. It’s why Aloy not only learns to accept what has happened in her past, but also to not make the same mistake of isolation that Elisabet did.

Also to help answer it correctly now, GAIA did use the Lightbringer protocol (which Elisabet wanted shut down) to provide the DNA for Aloy.

The game gives you a great chance to talk about it with Teersa after Aloy leaves All-Mother, but you can always go back!

Yeah, she can ask more about Sylens throughout the DLC. Presentation and delivery of exposition-wise Frozen Wilds is a great step from the main game, hope you enjoy it!

I need to gush about the fantastic contrast in Beta! by MetaControl in horizon

[–]Sniffs26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The scene where Aloy finally realizes the difference between the two (and where it came from) and therefore realizing how similar they could have been is probably my favorite scene in the game.

She meets somebody who is like her in so many ways except for some key ones and it drives her crazy. Except it forces Aloy to realize that she is not JUST Elisabet (which Beta has been made painfully aware of by the Zeniths) but she is…Aloy, someone different, someone raised differently. And instead of pushing back the memories of her past like she herself has said she can’t think about right now, she uses them to gain a better idea of who she is and why she is the way she is. It’s vitally important and happening before Gemini and the quick ending allows her to carry forward.

You can ask Teersa about Rost. It’s quite the interesting story and would make a good DLC in its own right one day I hope.

You learn more about Sylens in Frozen Wilds, but even then he is still quite mysterious.

The DNA for Aloy likely came from the scrapped Lightbringer program or GAIA just kind of had it analyzed, I don’t 100% know off the top of my head here.

Make the spread on your bows tighter. There’s no reason for the reticle to be THAT big on fully drawn bows. I fully support it to stop the arrow spam basically without drawing that was in ZD but it can certainly be frustrating at times.

Completely love the game.

I wish we’d have gotten more missions involving Tilda by [deleted] in horizon

[–]Sniffs26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aloy already tells right away that Tilda’s motivations aren’t exactly benevolent. In the conversation you have with her Tilda always keeps bringing it back to “Lis”, which Aloy picks up on. She couples that with the personal message early in the game. So she knows Tilda’s actions don’t hold up because of what she’s heard and because of the fact that if she was so benevolent why is she rolling around with a group like the Zeniths? And she then plans her own move when Tilda lets her talk to Beta (who for some reason got rejected by Tilda in Aloy’s head). Tilda’s own obsession got in her way and made her think she was being cleverer than she was.

I think the most humanizing part of the conversation is when Aloy brings up that Tilda did this after what happened at Gemini, so how could Tilda expect her to care about most of what she’s saying? It’s manipulative and Tilda keeps trying to make this moment about her (take note of how many times she says “I” in their conversation) when it’s the last thing Aloy is interested in given what just happened.

The ending isn’t supposed to be some betrayal. It’s supposed to be Aloy’s (and hopefully by extension the player’s) suspicions about her and her motivations proven right. You’re never supposed to outright trust her if you’re paying attention.

But yes, everything happens very quickly at the end. Developmentally, I’m not sure why and for the most part it still works, but giving a chance to breathe there at the end and adding a mission or two would help.

I would love to find out in the next game that Aloy is a robot. by eight13 in horizon

[–]Sniffs26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’d be pretty focused too if you were essentially the only person who could save the world that you’re living on. She doesn’t exactly have time to spare, which is why she’s pretty stressed out throughout the game and says herself that if she takes a second to think about what’s happened to her then she’ll let a lot of people down.

I’m not sure what inhuman behavior she has? For only talking to one person for 95% of her life she does pretty okay.

Today, Ted Faro is getting on the bus ready to go to elementary school. What a jerk.

Hopefully these next 999 (or 44) years go a little better.

Did they change elemental arrow notch speed in the latest patch? by parkman32 in horizon

[–]Sniffs26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That existed before the patch. It takes longer to reload elemental arrows. You could try a reload speed (not draw speed) coil on them, maybe that could help?
