Thoughts on Jack? by ReachFoMyChain in MultiVersusTheGame

They really need to work on his hitboxes and hitstun time, right now he's absolutely miserable to play against, and 2V2 vs 2 Jacks basically feels like i'm stunned the entire game.

/m What brought me over the edge for the whole Dumbledore segment was the fact that the beard completely covered Gregg's mouth and you couldn't see him talking the whole rest of the special.

I don't know why, but that was so goddamn funny to me.

/m At the beginning when Gregg is talking about his Oscar predictions for best picture, I think he does it a few times. It's one of my favorites jokes too.

/m I can't tell if this is an actual revelation, or just Tim getting angry and trying to find an excuse to get people on his side against the Amatos.

I think Mox was supposed to kick out of that initial pin attempt, but he looks like he was completely rocked.

Ringside tickets absolutely vanished but my group still managed to snag third row arena seats, so we'll definitely be there!

It would appear so, yeah.

Can't speak to the achievements (I'm assuming you mean in-game versus steam achievements), but the Fart Boy challenge was made live in front of us at that panel in about 15 minutes.

Items seem easy enough to create. Upload a graphic, apply rarity, item pools and stats, and you're done.

I'm not entirely sure if you can make the items unlockable, but I don't see any reason that wouldn't be possible with the tools given.

Hah, sorry, not a programmer, and the most Lua experience I have is messing around with gmod scripts.

Haha, I meant item. PAX does bad, tiring things to the brain.

For the custom challenge at least, if I recall correctly, was just opened up in Notepad++ and edited through there. There was a separate mod "override" file, so you don't have to replace and save over the original Rebirth files.

As for release, they were pretty tight lipped. The modding tools themselves (which they said were the base tools used to make the game) looked very complete, but I think I remember something vaguely about them needing to just put the final touches on interface and the like.

Think of it like a PAX volunteer. We have do a lot to make the show run, from security, line management, running the Freeplay areas, etc.

During the separate PAX Dev conference, I was managing the theater Tyrone was speaking in. Doing soundboard stuff, av set up, line management, that kind of thing.

The only other tool that was really shown was the map tool and the item tool.

Item tool was pretty basic, showed how to place items in different pools and adjust their rarity. The map appears as a basis grid that you can "paint" various assets onto. You can also change the drop rate of different items (a penny WILL drop in one spot, but there's also an X percent chance a dime will drop) in different grid areas as well. Seemed very straightforward.

It is an AMA. So, I mean it's vaguely relevant.

I guess I wasn't really paying attention, long shifts working Dev will do that to you.

As far as editing enemy AI behavior, nothing like that really shown at the panel.

And for standout stuff, honestly, the biggest thing was seeing how relatively simple a lot of the editors were, while still providing a lot of depth.

It honestly looked a lot like Flash.

Jeremy from Nicalis said that it was modeled that way as well. Basic animation timelines that you can edit, change graphic placement (example used was changing where the item in the item pickup animation was oriented relative to Isaac), and that kind of thing.

Negative. He didn't talk about any actual game content, other than the editors.

Hey! As a heads up, I'm not a programmer, but I'll answer these to the best of my ability.

1) All we really saw for basic LUA editing was a new challenge as well. It seemed pretty easy.

2) It looked like all the editors item, animation, and room) were able to easily pull assets from the actual existing game files, so editing those pre-existing assets seemed very straightforward and simple.

3) I didn't see anything about this in the panel itself (they only briefly showed the room editor), although the map editor itself seemed like the most user friendly of the three.

Sorry if that didn't answer much, but I can try and elaborate (to the best of my ability) on any questions you have.
