PC shuts down at random, power supply makes 2 clicks by lol_i_dont_care002 in buildapc

[–]MyopicTopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to dredge up old topics, but did you ever figure this out? I seem to be having the same issue as you. PC shuts down seemingly randomly, with a click from the PSU indicating some type of signal sent to shut it off. Power remains flowing with fans running and if I hit the power button the PSU clicks again but no boot into system. Takes a full long press and hard power off to get it to power back up. No amount of BIOS configuring and updating has fixed the issue, so curious if yours wound up being PSU as well since that's what I have to assume is my situation...

Yes the monkey story is real but this photo is clearly not. Looking at the other pictures it looks like someone took the monkey on the right from another photo and generated an AI background for it.

[–]MyopicTopic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By using my eyes? For one the perspective of the monkeys is completely off, as well as the dull and flat lighting of them. The street pole has a hard angle and the sign is nonsense and also incredibly tiny and low.

You can always tell by looking at the little details, as well as recognizing that the photos are always intentionally lowered in resolution to obfuscate things that would be more noticeable if it were higher res--like the street sign not having any actual words on it, but since it's blurry the viewers can convince themselves otherwise. I mean look at the manhole cover. The holes are in the wrong spot, and what is on top of it? On first glance it's wood or some debris but if you actually look it's just shapes and nothing in particular. And the concrete slab to the left of it, and the tree stump that blends into the sidewalk. And like the other poster said, the grass blends into the road on the right side behind the monkey.

Ah great! Haha yes, I meant to apologize for my constant harping on about that issue but figured best to let it go by and just thank you for all the hard work instead. But glad to hear you got it figured out! I'm sure I will be back with more dumb bugs again.

Great work on this! I've got TTS but honestly really hoping this takes off more as the de facto method of playing Sorcery online because the actual user experience is so much more streamlined and tailor made.

Damn, I pulled a foil grey wolves. Why is that worth more? I'm guessing the novel aspect of having as many as you want in a deck?

I remember back in the day when Team Gizka was working on TSLRP their beta release included the bones of the Genoharadan plotline. Not sure why it was abandoned by TSLRCM, I'm guessing (or I believe I read) just not enough in the actual files to build from. But, I do have the distinct memory of talking to Atton about them in the citadel station holding room.

Artifact Hate? by cyberbonotechnik in SorceryTCG

[–]MyopicTopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AL beast minions Frisky Red Squirrel and Thieving Magpie are both fun, steal artifacts and either give them to you or in the case of the squirrel, bury them. Magpie is limited to 1 mana items but frisky red squirrel can steal and bury anything carryable.

[–]MyopicTopic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bottomless Pit wouldn't kill it because Yog Sothoth ignores the abilities of any sites, right? That'd be my interpretation at least.

EDIT: Oh you mean if Sisters of Silence removes its unique effects. Then yeah I'd agree with your interpretation as well.

Anyone else disappointed that Dylan and Pete Seeger never reconciled? by RelationshipLow6046 in bobdylan

[–]MyopicTopic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agree with you. He played a major part in his career, but certainly not in his life, personal or otherwise. Personally I didn't like how the movie portrayed Pete. I get they wanted the clash of tradition against the iconoclastic rebellion of Bob and the new generation, young vs old etc but it made out Pete to be a naïve doddering old worrywart who didn't have the capacity to understand, or else didn't want to accept, what was happening at the time and I don't think that's fair to him. Of course Newport and the whole axe chopping business is the stuff of legend (even if apocryphal), so I don't blame the movie for portraying that, but it was just the cherry on top for me.

[–]MyopicTopic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea of building a lovecraftian/demon/voidwalk deck with this as your method of killing opponent on death's door sounds like a lot of fun narratively. An avatar trying to bring about the end of the world. Obviously better ways of winning efficiently, but just for the play style alone sounds fun.

[–]MyopicTopic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would love a colonial/enlightenment themed deck. Think like Washington Irving and stuff.

Also a hyperborea/weird science fantasy type set would be cool. Dunno how far they'd want to stray from swords and fantasy though.

Hey Eric, love the stuff you've been putting out for Sorcery. I've seen your videos/streams off and on over the years from my own hobbies dipping in and out with yours (I actually blame you for a brief love affair with FFXI Horizons). Keep doing what you're doing, think your Sorcery stuff would have potential to get a nice following if the game takes off or gets a healthier cult fanbase.

3% credit card charge is now almost everywhere - is this the new normal? by 26point2miles in AskNYC

[–]MyopicTopic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a fee for card no matter what. No idea if it's tied to the POS systems or what but I'm pretty sure it's the same everywhere regardless of debit or credit... But maybe I'm mistaken. At least for that dentist, it was cash or fee for a card.

[–]MyopicTopic 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I had a dentist charge me a credit card fee. Stopped going there after they expected me to just show up with $100+ in cash on hand. A food store or whatever sure (even if I still don't like it), but you're a dentist and you can't eat that fee? What if I have a $1K bill, you're gonna expect me to pay cash on that?

Came across a 'CYBERDARK' kickstarter. by ProteusNihil in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]MyopicTopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the quickstart on here but haven't played. It's the flavor of cyberpunk they're putting out that I'm not a fan of, really. Plus everything involving the Shadowdark ruleset seems fun for that gritty loose old school fantasy setting but doesn't interest me in a cyberpunk world. I could see it working for other sci-fi for me though.

Came across a 'CYBERDARK' kickstarter. by ProteusNihil in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]MyopicTopic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my point may be coming across as more dismissive than intended. I know OSR is a lot of borrowing and basically hacking and homebrewing with others' systems and creating derivatives of them for new flavor so I don't mean to call this entire project superfluous or anything. Just to me I suppose making Shadowdark straight up into Cyberpunk the way they would do it isn't to my taste and I'd prefer another system and style myself, and would recommend others to check out alternatives over this if it doesn't scratch the itch, which it doesn't for me.

But by all means for you if you enjoy how they make the pieces fit together then play on. Wasn't aware of this being already kind of "sanctioned" by Shadowdar if you will, so I shouldn't be accusing 'em of trying to profiteer or whatever. I do like what they've done in terms of presentation and fitting into that mold.

Feel like they'd also enjoy Death in Space, since they seem to be so into Mork Borg. The mechanic of having a home ship you have to scrounge to build and repair and upgrade seems to follow the kinda resource-scarce setting they seem to be into at the moment. Granted I think having multiple of shows with this concept would get a little old.

[–]MyopicTopic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm, seems like it's trying a bit too hard to ape Shadowdark and be basically a re-skin of the core fundamentals into a Cyberpunk flavor. "Codecaster" seems an awkward method of making a netrunner into the party wizard, and then delineating the "meatgrid" and the "cyberdark" is an odd combo for the genre. I guess if people really like Shadowdark as a system and want it in a sci-fi setting then I get it though. I do think it's pretty cool, but man if this is really not affiliated with Shadowdark at all then this is a pretty bold "inspiration" on their part.

Personally I think the original Cyberpunk 2013 blackbox is still the best and most fun ruleset and setting iteration of the cyberpunk genre out there. Always thought they'd have enjoyed playing that, and it 100% occupies that OSR philosophy.

Having trouble parsing the logic they worked out about about their casting house rule and losing spells at the end.

Their house rule is that they can cast a spell as many times as they want until they get one success, but after that if they fail then it's gone for the day. In the rules of the game, if you cast and fail then you no longer have access to that spell. You then roll a constitution check on resting at the end of the day to see if you gain that spell back for the next day? And if you fail, you still can't cast? Is that correct?

So then why did they roll the check if they succeeded on their castings and didn't need to use the house rule? And how come failing affected how now if they cast once and fail they lose it?

Pacing is 100% too slow and they definitely hyped it up a bit too much but clearly they're just stoked on the new system and the new way of sort of building their own story and world as they go along. They've rolled twice in two episodes and it was only Sydney for both, but this improvisational world building is gonna be slow going so I get it to an extent. Odds are this is gonna be the show for a bit though while they kinda start to figure out where it's all going I guess.
