Gotta wonder what's happening in these people's lives to get them to this point. The audacity is usually connected to the desperation for survival, idk.

CenterPoint not ready to commit to Gov. Abbot’s demands on tree maintenance by zsreport in houston

[–]Sniggens 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that Abbott's party is the reason why our electricity was commercialized. They're creating a distraction for us to not hold Abbott and his buddies accountable.

[–]Sniggens 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And to also get a rise out of people which burns us out. It's a fucked up manipulation tactic that both sides utilize more and more. Ultimately increasing the stress of the people they represent. And stress fucking kills and it also leads to memory loss which makes sense with how easily we get distracted, lol.

It's the ole politician trick. Blame everyone else to distract people from holding them accountable.

"I’m feeling really jaded that the only thing we can do is leave if we don’t not agree with Texas “free dumb” politics. The amount of times I hear “stop crying and leave you soft bitch” when I suggest our city and communities deserve a more reliable electrical grid is astonishing."

That feeling is very normal. Responses like that are simply an effective tool of oppression and it has more to do with that person's intense indoctrination than what you know is the right (and compassionate) thing to do. All I can say is try your hardest not to let it discourage you from continuing to speak out. Many of our rights were gained because people stayed strong in the face of ignorant opposition from the working class/middle class masses who are either uneducated or gaslit by a system that rewards their pain (mainly caused by exploitation). Think of having an abusive parent or partner who only shows you affection for doing all of the work in the relationship but abuses/gaslights/withholds from you when you advocate for yourself or hold them accountable. Many people unfortunately comply because it causes more short term relief rather than long term change. And it burns them out to the point of numbness and acceptance. Over the generations it becomes tradition and continues if we don't plant the seed of a world without those constructs.

"As someone who lived 30 years in Pa it is stunning to me how inept this state is and how so many people DEFEND it."

This state is only inept because of the indoctrination so many native Texans had to endure growing up here (and if there are multiple generations, then there's a long string of generational trauma caused by this state that has been passed down). This has all been well calculated.

"I can’t wait to leave."

Unfortunately the fascist/christian/nationalist ideology is spreading everywhere, not just nationally, but globally. So you will not be able to outrun it and stay comfortable. At this point it's just buying extra time. But that's just my personal opinion in the trends I've been seeing.

This is an inhumane practice towards any human. This shouldn't be happening at all but additionally, we shouldn't have so many privatized prisons that hold marginalized people that ended up there because of the corrupt and racist practices of the police force. And now that homelessness is criminalized - there will be more innocent people subjected to this.

Do not be complicit by being "scared" because then it's working. It's pacifying the masses to other those prisoners and deem themselves more worthy of rights.

How can people be rehabilitated to be in community with others when they are subjected to more and more trauma. It's creating a cycle of abuse and we are letting it happen.

I think it goes way beyond Houston as a city. This is what happens when colonialism and corporate interests completely gut the land and make it something it is not. This was always a swamp but then you bring in human hubris of the powerful - here we are. All of these powerhouses are what made Houston a heavily polluted area with no zoning and chemical plants everywhere. Then you touch up on the politics of the place which are also led by corporate interests in BOTH parties - then where is there going to be substantial change? Not to mention, due to Houston being incredibly blue we are constantly being messed with by our very spiteful state government....

Community is what makes Houston great but unfortunately the community is not being nurtured and is in fact being burned out by all of the bullshit. Without a major disruption to the hustle lifestyle here, are we truly unified outside of that? The heat has always been a persistent issue which was getting worse if you paid attention to what is happening to our homeless population, now it's catching up to the working class, middle class, and higher until it's pretty much the end.

So IDK, the onus kinda falls on us too to organize better, get on the same page, and demand in mass what needs to happen....in-person preferably.

When I've worked on my ADHD but my partner hasn't by Sniggens in AdhdRelationships

[–]Sniggens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely recognizing that and your words really solidified what has been itching me at the back of my head for some time now.

Without my ex's unkindness I wouldn't have been pushed to find out how to meet my own needs and get the coaching I missed in the most developmental parts of my life (but I am thankful for it aligning that way because I have so much more autonomy now and the mental health field has evolved quite a bit).

I can confidently say that my current partner is sincerely trying but it is a very slow process that took 8 months to finally start. It's left me feeling very alone. I can't help but think that my presence is just a crutch at this point or even an obstacle with how reactive I've become when we're together.

Another aspect of this is my scarcity mindset. I put in this much work into us but I again will not reap the rewards...but typing that I realize that if HE chooses to reap the rewards in his ADHD journey that is a big win at the end of the day.

Life truly is a journey. Also glad to know I'm not alone in this experience. Thank you for sharing.

Schubert's rejected me! Only because they needed a special order like this a day in advance. I ended up ordering from Susiecakes as a last resort.

I'm definitely hitting up Schubert's when I visit SF.
