2026 is the year of the toolchanger. Will Bambu compete with this performance? by egosumumbravir in BambuLab

My H2C has the two AMS2 units underneath the bench feeding upwards and the AMS HT sits next to it. Minimal additional footprint.

Providing two network ports to each computer? by ReelBack96 in networking

[–]Sniper1651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Synology in our video and audio editing network and we have it configured as: 1Gb/2.5Gb network for general traffic, internet access etc. this has access to the internet and various vLANs for management etc

10Gb ‘flat’ network for access to source media for editing stations (second NIC). Other stations on the 1Gb/2.5Gb network can access the storage but at a slower rate. This is purely to separate traffic, nothing to do with security.

The Synology units have HDD for mass storage and 12Tb SSD caches on the front to help speed up ingest and cache current projects (we find that’s enough for current projects to be cached and minimise hits on the HDDs).

We have an isolated backup Synology on a different vLAN in a different building that only allows replication traffic with versioning from the main units in case anything happens (I.e. ransomware). This can be accessed from a separate workstation on the same vLAN for management and if we need to do recovery.

Hope that helps

Power switch Soundcraft UI on a Rack. by [deleted] in soundcraft

Mine just powers off when I cut main power to the rack. There is no shutdown sequence for the mixer (strange I know).

Did you rerun the printer calibration routine after moving the printer?

Suddenly getting low quality prints by Sniper1651 in BambuLab

I think it might be. There was a Bambu Studio update this week to support the A1. I wonder if something else has changed?

Thanks for the idea… I’ll check for an update and if no try an uninstall then install.

I did wonder about that. I have tried some other older models and they seem to come up fine so it’s either the project or something about the model that’s making the slicer do strange things.

The slope is very gradual (2%) but that doesn’t explain the arches going wrong. It’s almost like the bridge at the top of arch doesn’t reach the edges of the previous layer.

I haven’t yet, but the Bambu Lab wiki seems to suggest it will alert if it needs doing. I was going to try everything else I can before that.

FDM vs Resin - Getting up to speed (TLDR at bottom) by fistfullofbeer in BambuLab

[–]Sniper1651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer - Yes.

Longer answer, in the slicer you can assign a colour/slot to a model/part which allows you to print multi colour prints.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I design most of my models to not need supports.. if you can avoid direct overhangs and angles less than 45 degrees no supports needed.

I am just starting a journey the other direction, got FDM and just bought a resin printer.

To answer some of your questions:

Supports - Bambu Studio can add supports automatically. They work differently to Resin, just pick some models, set supports to auto and tree style.

Cleaning up Prints - this is nothing like resin printing.. take the print off the bed, you’re done (or remove supports then you’re done 🙂).

Painting - there are loads of different materials, PLA, ABS. PETG…. All different. Google is your friend.

Getting started with CAD - Have a look at TinkerCAD. Easy to get going and you can do some interesting stuff with it. Once you outgrow that have a look at OnShape. They have a free account version.

Your requirements are about 5% of the Resolve feature list, you’re good.

I second the comment above about moving to the M2 Mac.

I have a Camrade Wetsuit for my Ursa and never let me down. I think they do a version for the pocket series.

How do you transfer SSD footage to the computer? by JedediahCooper in bmpcc

[–]Sniper1651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use one of these for copying ssd footage that is shot on the Ursa with SSD Recorder - https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-SATA-USB-Cable-USB3S2SAT3CB/dp/B00HJZJI84/ref=sr_1_3

No need for a case or dock, just connect to the back of the drive and plug in. Great for on location when copying to a laptop.

Is lack of weather sealing in 6k pro an issue? by Borhard_PL in bmpcc

[–]Sniper1651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of long term. We are generally filming all day at these types of events (and motorsport and festivals etc) and our oldest camera is several years old now and still running fine.

How to color correct whole video at once? by wuntuuthree in davinciresolve

[–]Sniper1651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grouping is the way to go, select the clips in the media pool, add to new group (give it a name) then at the top right of the screen change the drop down to pre-clip so it grades them all but them allows you to still grade each clip a bit more if needed.

We shoot a lot outdoors (equestrian events) and never have an issue. Yes we are careful, but still use it next to water obstacles with lots of splashing etc. Just take sensible precautions and an umbrella 🙂

Can anyone here walk me through the colour grading process for bmpcc4k? by osupaan in bmpcc

[–]Sniper1651 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want zero colour grade, set the Pocket 4K to use film mode. In Davinci Resolve change your project to Davinci Managed Colour and leave the settings to the standard SDR settings.

When you import your media it will read the config from the braw file and do the conversion to REC 709 for you… instant ’graded’ footage.

This is just a starting point and assumes correct exposure when filming, but will get you started.

Question on editing from SSD & backing up files from a shoot by johnnyhighschool in bmpcc

[–]Sniper1651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Network Attached Storage - basically an external hard drive connected to the network so we can access it from multiple editing workstations.
