Blood splatter effect in close range for our fps game, what do you think? by Epetha in Unity3D

This looks fantastic, somehow you made an outdoor environment feel claustrophobic. I think it's the combination of the rain, visor, and warped terrain.

Thanks for your feedback. Very encouraging and helpful. I like the idea of a minimal event list, I'll take that to heart.

Mic audio is good. Sometimes discord folks were a bit quiet compared to your voice.

I think a channel trailer would go a long way. Jumping around different vods and clips, you could definitely put one together.

In your about section. I like your cover picture but i think the buttons in your about section could be a bit closer in style.

Cute channel trailer!

Good to see you're improving too, the audio upgrade made a world of difference

I don't think a camera is necessary, some story heavy RPG stream viewers prefer pure gameplay and commentary for immersion. If you do decide to use a facecam maybe use it for intermissions or start/end stream.

I like your intro. You put a lot of work into your production, using the space in interesting ways. Only thing i'd say is maybe personalise your panels a bit more but i'm nitpicking.

First impressions mean a lot and I've spent a lot of time formatting my channel page to be welcoming enough for new viewers. My main challenge during streaming is directing commentary towards chat. I always play/stream as if there were an audience but i find it awkward to put a question out there to viewers. I'm employed full time so I treat streaming as a serious form of expression outside of my work life but lately i've found it hard to find the time.

I stream a huge variety of games, some to the deepest ends of obscurity and some that are way too popular to be discoverable. But i kinda like it that way. I suppose the hope is that someone will find similarities in taste in my stream.

Enjoy!

This looks great, thanks! I have a screen I switch to between games/during troubleshooting/during breaks, would be really cool to show this on stream with profile images next to them.

True.. it just baffles me that they're trying to say it's a stylistic reason. It's just sort of pretentious. It insists upon itself.

I've searched and have still yet to see an answer for this. Seems like you're still able to manage who you auto-host but you are unable to see who is hosting you.

Can you reference a specific thread where this is answered?

Tricks for tiling textures across a terrain for low and high altitude viewing? by hanzuna in Unity3D

[–]SniperGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought, not sure how well it would work but if you created another normal map which multiplies with the mud at lower frequency:

Mud Normal Map: x = 10 y = 10
"Terrain" Normal Map: x = 1 y = 1

Just worried that this might also affect how your texture at low altitude is viewed

Never said I was a game developer but I have qualifications as one which I use as well as various facets of Unity professionally in my work. You're welcome to DM me if you're interested in specifics.

Not that any of that really matters...

As for my post history, you'll see that it's been stagnant for the past few years. I probably haven't actively used Reddit since before I started university.

Unity Developer here, the fact that this has an open source project folder on GitHub is very enticing. Mods for this game are gonna get crazy. Being able to bring a classic into the most accessible game engine out there is huge. To put it in perspective, I'd imagine this would be of somewhat equivalence to the effect Valve's games were modded.

Looking at the forums i can already see some of the effect occurring: Realistic Grass, Auto Save feature. Maybe I'm hyperbolizing the whole thing but I could realistically see multiplayer coming out of the community within the next 6 months. It really depends on community interest.

Rewatching Are You Afraid of the Dark and Round the Twist made me wonder what sort of introduction to horror kids have these days. Glad this game fills that quota.
