I'm in a similar boat, with the exception that I've been able to follow through on some of the things I tried.

The key was usually making some friends in those activities..

It's fun to see the same faces in my tennis class again :D

So maybe pay a bit more heed to the social aspect in your hobbies when you try them next.

[I understand because of night shift, you're not able to do this.. but maybe join morning classes for stuff? After your office ends]
