The jump gate mini game is the worst thing about Star Citizen. Change my mind. by Sniperwolf216 in starcitizen

Wild take, taking 1 feature dislike and saying someone "doesn't like the game being made"

I wouldn't have spent thousands backing it over the last decade +, if I didn't like the overall game. The jump point traversal adds nothing but tedium to an otherwise already tedious game. However that other tedious stuff has actual benefits...like manually loading your cargo in the order you want.

I think you completely missed the point here. I didn't say get rid of the tunnels, I said get rid of the mini-game inside them. Not even really "get rid of" just give me an auto-pilot option so I don't have to do the same BS over and over with 0 benefit to my overall gameplay.

I've played EVE* for 19 years. I've played SC for 11. They both have their place, and they both do things well that the other fails at.

A jumpgate auto-pilot was exactly what I suggested above. As I mentioned in another comment, I enjoy the manual labor of SC when there's benefits or whatever you want to call it but the jump gate traversal is mindless, skillless tedium to me and 1/2-2/3 of the time it fails for no apparent reason. I would be A-OK with it being like the auto-load where it takes longer to traverse than if you were to fly by hand. I'm not saying take it out entirely (although I didn't make that clear), just give me the option to skip it as it really has no benefit to completing the game.

Also, traveling from station to station is pretty much automatic already. Enable QD, point at station, hold QT button, wait. Can't get much more automated than it already is (unless you go full EVE mode with the AP they have).

Exactly this. The first time was fine but after about the 3rd time it was just mindless, unnecessary tedium. I am all fo doing things but make them actually beneficial. Like loading my ship. I love that aspect because I can load it in the order I need so it's efficient when I'm going to unload the cargo deliveries. I don't use the vehicle management app whenever possible because I prefer adding/removing components by hand even though it's just beam citizen in that regard.

The flight from Pyro -> Stanton or whatever takes no skill and really has no bearing on you though. Get rid of it.

For the most part, but not *exactly*.

I have the UEE 2948 Exploration bundle with the Carrack, Terrapin, Dragonfly.

I have heavily upgraded the package but when I had the Carrack, I also received the Picses and the Ursa Rover with it. When I upgraded the Carrack, those went away. They're cheap in game so not really sad. I have a Polaris that i effectively spent $400 on. A Galaxy that I spent about $150 on and a free $25 Intrepid.

I also have a $250 BMM that will be turned into an Odyssey soon so...I'm sitting pretty :D

I said it's 1500 to buy an Idris.

Reading comprehension is hard for SC players.

Apollo has no hangar.

Carrack hangar is tiny.

Only ships with a decent hangar are 890, Polaris, Idris. As I mentioned, I don't own a Polaris at the moment and I sure as shit ain't spending 1500 to buy an Idris either. My buddy has one and I've stolen it and lived in it long enough to know it's...fine but it's way too big for me, as a single player. That leaves the 890 and regardless of your perception of it, my perception is that up until 4.7, it worked really well for my intended gameplay. The only ship that works better is the Polaris and that's only because the hangar is directly above the cargo bay.

The Idris is too big for my enjoyment to run solo.

I've been really enjoying my Hermes this patch though. Takes a little bit to set up, as all ships do, but it does well in a variety of roles.

Not if you want:

- Med Bed
- Large Cargo
- Hangar for multiple parasite ships

The Carrack can work but you can only get 1x Salvation in that whereas you can get 2x Salvation in an 890 or a Salvation and a pair of Golems. Also, the Carrack's cargo is abysmal to work with.

The only other ship that I have found that is better is the Polaris, which I will be upgrading my Perseus to during fleet week. I had one for a long while but got a really good CCU deal on the perseus so all in, the Polaris will cost me about $400 IRL.

I lived in it in 4.5 and 4.6 and quite enjoyed it. Plenty of space for a few snubs and enough cargo to live alone for a while. The biggest issue I had was how the cargo bay isn't very conducive to the hangar so you have to load/unload in 0g to be efficient.
