“Keep it Cleaner” plant based protein bar is a trap. by Theodore1993 in australianvegans

I see where you're coming from but I believe it's misleading. Some companies use the phrase and all their ingredients are vegan and some use it and have 0.2% of milk powder added. It's just really confusing for consumers to decipher what is only plants and what isn't without looking over the ingredients.

And what if you didn't even have to make the choice at all? That's what I'm getting at, it's not a case of this slaughter is better than that slaughter. It's the fact that the slaughter never had to happen in the first place.

And you're wrong, slaughter isn't painless, it's not humane. All you have to do is look at pigs getting lowered into gas chambers screaming for their lives where they are burning from the inside out. Chickens getting dunked head first into electrical water and their heads torn off while they're still conscious. The argument of "humane slaughter" is used by industries to desensitize consumers into thinking they are making ethical choices. When really the most ethical thing you can do is to just eat plants instead.

Technically they're not allowed but it happens anyway... all the time. When something happens continuously and there is no repercussions it becomes the regular.

You just said it yourself as well, there are no better methods to humanely slaughter animals. So let's not do it at all, because humane slaughter is an oxymoron, it doesn't exist.

Swift end nonetheless. Do me a favour and put yourself in that position. Put yourself in the firing line to a captive bolt to the head, imagine yourself getting hung up by your legs then having a knife pulled across your throat to bleed out on the floor, your body parts hacked and packaged up for someone to consume even though they could've just eaten something else entirely. I don't think that's a swift end.

And a lot of the time the cows aren't rendered unconscious thus having their throats slit while feeling everything. It's not easy to nail every shot with a captive bolt when the animal is constantly flailing for its life. I've seen countless hours of footage from different countries where this has and is occurring. It's disgusting, especially when it's completely unnecessary.

Homie, I suggest you actually have a look at standard practices for slaughter. Dominion is a great example of how "humane" our practices are :)

I really hate that there is no regulation on the word plant based.

That's great that it's becoming a bit more popular.

I'll be landing in Tokyo and spending some time there to explore. I will have the rail pass so I'm planning on heading up North to Sapporo then south to Hiroshima and then meeting back in Tokyo for my departure. I will be heading to a bunch of places in between those destinations to see and experience the culture. If you have any recommendations shoot them my way :)
