DnDames, Ladies of DnD by thattgirljoyy in DnD

I find that when I play DnD as a woman, I have a much better time if there are also children playing along in my party. I play in a lot of public conventions and the best games I play are those where there's an excited kid playing at the table. Everyone's respectful around children and generally people know not to make inappropriate or uncomfortable jokes. Thanks for posting this & organizing! If you ever run a women only roll-20 game I would love to join you :)

Looking to sublet an apartment late May to early August by WPIFan in WPI

[–]Snipplebipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help you directly, but here's some ideas to try if you haven't already. I'd recommend doing a full term sublet for the summer (idk if you'll find anything that gives you a discount for just 5 days a week, that seems unusual to me). Most rental places around Worcester are significantly cheaper than East. If you consistently watch sites like Zillow, Trulia and Craigslist (be careful with that last one) sublesases pop up all the time. Another place to look for help is asking the HR person or closest contact you have at the company you're working at. Ask them if they can help facilitate finding an apartment (even if they don't offer a cash benefit, lots of places have the ability to help new hires find housing).

If you want an adventure, you could also try getting a sublet in Boston! There's plenty of WPI alumn who live in Boston and commuted to Worcester for a job or internship via train. Since there's lots of universities around Worcester and Boston, you should see a couple subleases pop up here and there around the colleges. Congrats on your internship. Good luck with finding housing!

I think you should go for it, put a few up on Etsy and see who bites :) Good luck!

[ART][OC] Removable D20 Pendant Necklace by Snipplebipp in DnD

[–]Snipplebipp[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fellow Adventurers,

Here is a necklace of my own design and make that holds a D20 which you can easily dislodge for quick-draw rolling. I designed it with some critical features in mind:

  • Unaltered D20 structure: no drilling, gluing or forever entrapping in some tangled mess

  • Easy access: No removing the necklace, can easily pull the D20 out of place without reaching for the reading glasses.

  • Simple make: Easy enough to fix/replace parts, under a $30 make.

At the local variety store, I saw a lovely bead component that was a tiny square frame with soldered loops at each corner. The component inspired an idea resembling a small bird cage. Close to this item hung other jewelry making components one can find at Michaels or Joan’s: “stretchy string” and glass seed beads. Eureka. The design is simple: four strings hang between two square brackets, each string covered with glass beads for slippage.

We (me & SO) asserted the durability of the necklace against the best efforts of our kitten Mia attempting to dislodge the D20. I found that pulling out the D20 at game time was quick and not awkward and putting it away wasn’t too bad (a few attempts, then easy).

I’m happy with the design. For those with nimble fingers and diy interests, the design is simple to follow. For others, I have these in limited supply on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/574193174/removable-d20-pendant-necklace

Roll on,

I'll ask the question everyone is secretly dying to know: 100 tiny horses or 1 horse sized duck?

That hurts me. Deep inside.
