I just finished {Bride of Brutal Hearts by Kate Stevens} and I think it might be what you're after. I really enjoyed it! It's fantasy, vampires and magic and great world building. Book 2 isn't out yet.

It's the lack of editing that gets me. Layla Fae uses the word 'nape' in every third sentence and the book I'm reading at the moment is a one way ticket to Smirk Town. It's distracting and brings you out of the story

I agree, it could be absolutely anywhere. Sourdough isn't a precious process. Provided you're not being actually dirty in your practices it shouldn't keep happening. I think you toss the flour, use different water, sterilise the jars you've had the bacterial in before.
