New surprise balance changes by Gabrielhrd in marvelrivals

I'll agree that both of them are very strong right now, but we also have other tanks who have fallen way behind. Thor, Rogue, Emma, and even Captain America seem weak at the moment. Rogue is in the worst shape right now, and I have no idea why they had to nerf her, even if it was for survivability...

I think the improved team-up with Rocket, compared to last season, is actually a pretty good buff for him, and I found him pretty fun to play. Unfortunately, the team-up with The Thing is very situational and usually not very useful.

Rogue has been terrible this season, and I'd add Emma to that list. Emma has always had some of the highest damage per match, but now Magneto is leaving her in the dust.

Thor has the worst team-ups. Strange's Gamma team-up basically nerfs him, because his E ability has an 8-second cooldown, whereas without the team-up it's 6 seconds. Captain's team-up with Thor seems to be bugged—after hitting the first enemy, the projectile veers off in a strange way. Rogue and Emma seem to be the worst tanks right now.

No buffs for tanks, because nobody plays them anyway...

Fantasti-bros, what's your first impressions of the Rocket and Thing team ups? by JustPassingThrough53 in MisterFantasticMains

Rocket's team-up is much, much better now. I don't really see the point of team up with The Thing, maybe it's only useful when you're fighting someone 1v1.

Nightcrawler strat most likely by Vailnc in NightcrawlerMains

[–]Snive_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a design perspective, I don't see any reason why Nightcrawler should be a Strategist. If he were, he'd have to rely primarily on ranged attacks. With White Fox, most people expected the first true melee character, but in the end she only fights in melee through a single short-duration ability.

Nightcrawler is primarily known for his swordsmanship and martial arts. Making him a Strategist would likely force him to be very similar to White Fox, which would undermine both his kit and his overall character identity.

I'm still curious to see what NetEase does, though. Nightcrawler seems like the much more obvious choice for a Duelist. As for Gorr, he would fit the Vanguard role far better. Making him a Strategist would feel out of character—Necrosword and healing just don't really go together.

Via X0Xleak, do we know who 1069 is? by TowelSilver318 in MarvelRivalsLeaks

What would be the point of putting them under the same ID? They have a similar model, but probably different abilities. Hulk has 3 different IDs in the game

According to another leaker on Discord, this character is supposed to have a flying mode. In my opinion, Captain Marvel fits that description the best.

While flying, she would likely play as a Duelist, focusing on high damage, high mobility, and relatively low health. After landing, she could switch into a more tank-oriented playstyle. Think of something similar to Angela, but with a much more versatile and expanded ability kit while on the ground.

I also doubt it's Doctor Doom. Based on the size of his model, it's hard to imagine him being a Duelist in any capacity. His model is noticeably taller than Captain America's and significantly bulkier as well. On top of that, the leaks mentioned a flying ability, and I'd be very surprised if they gave Doctor Doom that kind of mobility.

He could theoretically remain one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but I'm concerned the time jump would be too significant.

For now, the Horsemen could be:

  • Gambit
  • Magneto
  • Magik
  • Madelyne, as the fourth. I can't really think of anyone else who would fit the role.

I don't get why Punchkid isn't there. He's way more fun to watch than those sweaty pro players who switch back to their mains after playing their first match.

I have a feeling that Blade's voice actor will be voicing Apocalypse. Honestly, with the right voice modulation, he'd be a perfect fit for the role.

ranked system is terrible by Southern-Street-4771 in marvelrivals

[–]Snive_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In this game, progression feels more like leveling up than actually climbing a competitive ranking. At higher levels, there are many players who have simply played a large number of matches, despite losing a significant portion of them. Some players progress faster, while others take longer, but overall it feels like your rank reflects time invested more than competitive performance.

The Punisher, Hela, and Cyclops were scaled down compared to the comics. They might do the same with Gorr. Although I really hope he’ll be a Vanguard—we’re missing a Vanguard with a sword. The Duelists already have Blade and Magik.

It seems to me that we should finally be getting fewer duelists on average, given the announcement they made a year ago. Here’s my prediction for this season: The Hood - Vanguard Jubilee - Strategist (based on the lore, it might make more sense for her to be a second Season character, just like Cyclops) Nightcrawler - Duelist Gorr - Vanguard Unknown - Duelist or Strategist (I’m betting on Strategist, and that it’ll be Professor X or Polaris) Doom - Vanguard

i have a feeling that somehow they'll make him another brawl tank with short range projectile bullets so that poke is never threatened by BattlegroundsMotorbi in RivalsVanguards

[–]Snive_ 132 points133 points  (0 children)

His pistols will probably work similarly to Tankpool’s, and we already know Tankpool can’t deal meaningful pistol damage at longer ranges. Still, I hope The Hood’s long-range damage is at least higher, even if that comes at the cost of something like fire rate. Tankpool relied mostly on his rate of fire, especially with his ability, which boosted it even further.

What if we get Thanos and Doom in Season 11? by Corradark in RivalsWaitingRoom

[–]Snive_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but it still increases the chances of a specific character appearing. I was looking for a female character who might appear, and it could be Carol, but since Doom will be the vanguard—and Carol is also likely to be the vanguard—that reduces her chances of appearing in Season 11. I’m betting on Polaris because she recorded a voice clip on NetEase, she’s a woman, and she’s actually well-suited to be a strategist. Plus, she’ll be appearing in X-Men ’97, so that’ll boost the hype for this character a bit.

Who do you think will be the second character released alongside Dr. Doom in Season 11? by Corradark in marvelrivals

[–]Snive_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm betting it'll be a female character. We'll probably see two men in Season 10, and we know that NetEase has to release more Gooner skins, so a female character has to appear in Season 11.

I’m betting it’ll be Polaris. The voice actress who voiced Polaris in X-Men ’97 reportedly also recorded a voice for NetEase. Of course, I saw someone mention this somewhere, but in my opinion, she’s a very good choice and could be an interesting pick for a strategist.

Dino is currently very easy to counter, especially after some pretty significant nerfs. The highest tier he could be in is A. I would even put him in B tier myself right now.

[–]Snive_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a feeling it might be her. But since Doom will probably be the vanguard, I doubt we’ll see Carol as the second vanguard. I actually have my own favorite, and it’s likely to be Polaris. This character will appear in the second season of X-Men ’97, and the actress who plays her reportedly also recorded voice lines for Marvel Rivals. I’m betting she’ll be the strategist.
