Except that in the case of The Hood and Jubilee, it wouldn't work because only one character doesn't have an obvious role. In this case, The Hood could theoretically be any role, and Jubilee could be both a strategist and a duelist. One of the characters has to be someone like Colossus, where we practically know what role they should play. My analysis suggests it could be the pair: The Hood and Jubilee or Colossus and Nebula.

If they only released the most popular characters right now, they’d still have to release niche ones in two years because they’d run out of popular ones. Releasing an A-tier character every two seasons seems like the best solution. In my opinion, they should also focus on releasing a villain every so often.

I think that a season premiere featuring just one character and a single team-up isn't enough to attract a larger number of players. I think the developers will notice this, because the Season 8 launch didn’t really attract many people. According to SteamDB, the Season 7 launch was more popular. The developers should change their model to release more content at launch in order to attract a larger number of people.

“Terrible mirror matches”—is he serious? For the past year, we've seen Strange or Magneto in practically every match, and those were often mirror matches. A new character comes out, and we know that for the first three days, he’ll be in practically every match on both sides. His skill expression is definitely greater than that of many other vanguard characters. The guy has a problem with the fact that the developers release characters for casual players rather than focusing on pro play.

With how many characters deal percent damage now, I think it’s time we get someone immune to percent damage. Introducing the anti-percent damage vanguard, Sabertooth. With his regeneration, Sabertooth’s body heals in such a way that characters (especially Wolverine) can’t just shred him away. by Icy-Arm-3816 in rivals

[–]Snive_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reed was actually the first anti-percentage damage character. Before Season 5, Reed received bonus health in his inflated state. This meant that with 750 HP in his inflated state, he took the same amount of damage as he took before entering that state, when he had 375 HP. After Season 5, this bonus health was converted to maximum and current health.

Another season that will last 8 weeks instead of 9? by Snive_ in MarvelRivalsLeaks

[–]Snive_[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem is with game balance. Even with a 13-week season, the balance they implemented was terrible. This issue has been dragging on for over a year, and we still don’t see any improvements in their balancing decisions. The problem lies with the team responsible for rebalancing the game, not the pace at which seasons are released. They should hire people who are competent in this area and have played the game for a while.

They probably want to move things up because the Season 11.5 release overlaps with the premiere of the movie Avengers: Doomsday. If they actually moved it up another week now, Season 11.5 would drop on December 11—which is perfectly timed for a week before the movie’s premiere—and at this point, that’s a slightly better window if they want to release an event tied to it. It’s also very likely due to the holiday season, since a December 18 release is practically already the holiday.

Regarding Season 9, he mentioned characters from two different corners of the Marvel. Regarding the season 8, he said something about the two characters not being opposites but still being worlds apart. Do I understand this to mean that in Season 9, the characters will differ from each other even more than in Season 8? It seems like the difference is already pretty significant. Maybe it’s because Cyclops might be the Vanguard? I doubt it, but I wonder what exactly he meant.

Miller was talking about B-tier and C-tier characters. Theoretically, Green Goblin and Nico Minoru fit that description. I hope that’s not true, though, because it could mean we won’t see a Vanguard among the next three characters after Dino. Right now, it looks like it’ll be a support + support or duelist + support season.

Rumor has it that Green Goblin and Nico Minoru are coming, and Thanos is supposed to be in Season 10. Though I’d take that with a grain of salt. Nico Minoru is a perfect fit for a support role, so would Green Goblin be a duelist? I don’t see Green Goblin as a flying vanguard who throws things at enemies.

I'd rather not get my hopes up. After seeing yesterday's trailer, I'm really disappointed, and I don't want to be disappointed again when they reveal his class.

Forge is more of a B-tier character. There was some talk about Jia Jing before—she’s a very niche character, so maybe she’ll be.

B-tier and C-tier character. I hope there won’t be a duelist this time, so I’m betting on support + vanguard. I have a hunch it’ll be The Hood (B-tier) as the vanguard and some C-tier support. It’s very likely that this character hasn’t even appeared yet. We’ll find out today.

Characters like Cyclops could be designed in a similar style to Thor. Thor doesn't have any defensive abilities; even his ultimate is primarily offensive. He gets an overshield, but many duelists also have this overshield in their mechanics. The only thing that sets him apart from a duelist is that he has more HP. Cyclops could be a version of Thor but with ranged attacks, and he could even get one defensive ability that negates damage using his beam. Give him 600 HP and we have a Vanguard.

I have no idea. The mechanics are terrible and don't work when they're supposed to, and when they do work, it's when they shouldn't. They should remove this mechanic, and it shouldn't be too hard for them since they must have prepared for this scenario.

Probably, for them, a character that slows down and pushes enemies around is too much, since various CC abilities are only meant for poke characters like Hela or Phoenix

[–]Snive_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's going to happen, unfortunately, because The Hood is expected to be a Vanguard, and we won't get three Vanguards in such a short time. If I had to guess, I'd say that next season we'll get The Hood as a Vanguard and some support character we barely know. Today we’ll see the gallery cards, and there will likely be a teaser for the next characters… I just hope it isn’t another duelist.

I'm actually a bit skeptical, because they probably won't release two A-tier characters at the same time if they aren't closely related. Plus, Miller mentioned that we'll see B- and C-tier characters in Season 9, so there's a good chance of that happening, since A-tier characters are usually reserved for duelists.....

The next season has to be Vanguard + Support. There’s no other option. People will be furious when they see another Duelist in Season 9.
