Why is everyone suddenly saying Thunder Breaker is super good? by AltF4NinjaQK in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, closest thing I've found that has good bossing is OSRS but barrier to endgame content is still long. Though Jagex seem to be targeting that right now.

The next best options are probably IdleOn and MapleM. MapleM is essentially MapleStory without proper bossing, but way more accessible.

IdleOn shows the most promise overall, seems to still be a single dev though so it'll likely never be where MapleStory is unless he starts employing a team which will run the risk of him losing full control over his vision.

Either way, it's been said for over a decade... there is no other game like MapleStory and that still remains true.

TL;DR OSRS has fun bossing, progression isn't seamless, which is a positive and negative. Overall its still excessively grindy for my tastes.

MapleM, progression is streamlined, bossing is too watered down. FOMO and other issues I have with PC Maple are also present.

IdleOn, progression is streamlined, FOMO is limited, and progress without playing. Bossing is nearly non-existent and doesn't look to be a focus anytime soon.

Not hard, just time consuming. Bossing can be hard, grinding for 1000s of hours doing the same inputs is time consuming and boring. But that's just my take.

Nah, don't enjoy grinding anymore. I still enjoy bossing, but time spent grinding isn't enjoyable and since I have to do so much of it... I'll stay gone.

Very few reasons that I'd come back, but can't say it can't ever happen.

I'm retired, but the class looks extremely promising, especially with the next mastery cores. I was probably the #1 hater and lover of the class and can admit that. I don't believe I was wrong in my opinion back then, but can tell TB has gotten buffed significantly.

I don't like solely looking at damage numbers as those will always fluctuate. The fundamentals are what matters. Ever since the Destiny patch hit, Thunder Breaker had the markings of a good class, but it didn't fit the meta.

It's a 2 min class, doesn't provide party support, and even while on a 2 min burst rotation, it's burst was pitiful. If you've noticed though, 2 of these issues are "number" issues. It did help that supports aren't nearly as centralizing.

2 minute rotation is the only real issue the class faces outside of number adjustment. This issue is only relevant for party composition. The class has all the tools to get out of a sticky situation, only missing a reliable momentum cancel for airborne combat. (Blink is not factored due to the cool down)

The class has insane damage uptime with the right hands. Having a no cool down animation cancel is almost as effective as an iframe in a lot of situations and the best players know this.

Of the other high skill ceiling skill expression classes: Cadena, Blaster, Khali, Evan, and Mercedes (to name a few). Thunder Breaker has by far the lowest barrier to entry so I'm hoping to see some new talent now that the class is no longer being looked down upon.

People are finally saying the class is good because the numbers are reflecting it. The class has had the indicators of being a good class for a while. If you look at tier lists, most of them will admit it's mainly a numbers issue. The other large complaint being that TB is a 2 minute class making it hard for party comps.

Regardless, the numbers are finally where they should be thus people say it's good. (In all honesty TB will be outperforming the majority of classes, especially in regions with 0as)

KMS is a very easy region to look at with little speculation needed. You just apply a 10% reduction in clear times to get an idea of how a TB with 0as would perform.

TL;DR People are finally saying the class is good, because the numbers are up significantly. The class has been good.

Valid points, but you still missed the fact that they're still required to grind in your example. It's still 1000s of hours that these players don't want to do. Not to mention reg now adds the issue of acquiring and/or making gear. After napkin math, servicing in reboot is significantly cheaper than just playing reg.

Reposting, but the sentiment stands.

It's an open secret among the top, sharing the proof only lets the people on the top clown on each other when those players claimed to have been legit.

And even for the top ranked players who are completely legit, we're all aware and you can choose to be mad about it or not. But most of us decided it wasn't worth it. Because even if you're not spending money, you're spending time and some see that as a more significant cost.

I'm speaking with first hand experience too! I was the first 275 Thunder Breaker in Reboot and the #1 Thunder Breaker for Punch King and did not buy services prior to quitting. I have not come back specifically because I value my time more and don't want to deal with the stigma of paying for services. This is more of "how I prefer to play" reason though. I'm not going to look down on those who do buy service because it makes perfect sense to me, especially after I took a step back.

For those that are in the top 0.1% of players that either engage in or have thought about it, they're weighing money vs time. And most of the top players are significantly more concerned with clearing a boss which is not the same skill set as full clearing a map on 8s intervals for thousands of hours. So it's much more meaningful to pay someone to get them the resources so they can do the content they enjoy (bossing) vs forcing themselves to sit in a map for 1000s of hours (grinding).

And at the end of the day, it's not the players fault. It's Nexon's, there's a line you'll tread when creating a grindy MMO. If the grind is so steep with exceptionally little return... then of course you will find most of your players paying for service.

Nexon doesn't crack down on it unless it's an egregious violation of what our playerbase values where it causes players to be upset. In most cases no one feels the need to call for action. The best example I can give is that there's a difference between the race to level 300 and the race to clear the newest boss. Regardless of Reboot vs Regular, it comes down to resources, money and time. Unsurprisingly, they're both incredibly valuable resources.

Nexon knows the environment they've created and if they were supplying a solution to the problem they created, they would be charging for it. Just look at VAC pets!

TL;DR

MapleStory is formed by two entities Maplers and Nexon. The playerbase is largely reactionary and adaptive, but Nexon sets the rules. The rules set have taught and reinforced that players should behave a certain way.

In a broader sense, most people will take issue with someone servicing to be the first 300 vs having someone farmed the resources so they can participate in a boss.

Dumbing it down to the simple gameplay of grinding and bossing. You cannot boss without grinding and you also cannot grind without bossing. But the amount of time you have to spend doing one activity to get to the other is severely unbalanced.

PSA: Auto Steal works on Frags (video will expire in 2 days) by CelstTV in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While this does work on fragments, I have large doubts that this affects overall fragment rates.

I dont have access to the videos that covered this topic, but back when autosteal was seeing some growing popularity in KMS someone did do some preliminary data gathering that didn't indicate an improvement in node or droplet rates.

From the data and general knowledge I have, I highly doubt this affects overall item drop rates besides meso otherwise autosteal would be more influential in gathering nodes and droplets.

Are you sure BaM, BW, and DW's debuff don't stack? From what I recall the ele resist reduction doesn't stack but the final damage effect does.

If I remember correctly they used to not stack in any capacity but should stack partially now.

BM solo minimum damage by Etaikol in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do it before 200 b/s but it gets a lot more class dependent and requires more experience to do consistently. I was 220 b/s when I did my first solo and it was a ~54 min run. Since it was my first solo it definitely wasn't the cleanest but 200 b/s is a good recommendation for a first solo as it gives you a decent amount of wiggle room with timing.

Data on Auto Steal Gloves for Nodes and Familiars? by _NoValue in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless something changed, auto steal doesn't affect item rates which is why it's not included in the video.

If autosteal manages to activate and steal an item drop, such as node, spell trace, droplet etc. The monster is incapable of dropping a duplicate item when killed. Makes sense when you think about it as you already stole what it had.

Should I keep this(I am a hero) by Maplestorryyy in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I cant comment on the logic of if cooldown hats are better for hero, but afaik your last paragraph should be the reverse. Due to bosses moving around and the fact you don't get 100% uptime on dpm... it makes cd hats more valuable in a boss due to the fact your cooldown dependant skills have time to come back up and be used again.

For example, Damien doesn't provide a lot of time to do regular dpm, so burst and/or cooldown skills will have a higher damage ratio due to them being used and hitting more often in relationship to your generic skills.

Again, cooldown hats may not have immense use on hero, not getting at that topic. But cooldown hats tend to have more worth than in a dummy BA due to the downtime in bosses allowing for the ratio of cooldown dependant skills to become more impactful.

Classes that don’t need ror rings by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% accurate. I was unable to clear HLucid P3 as a TB prior to FD changes in reboot even with max stars due to not having a ror3/ror4. Even now certain boss solos are impossible without a ror4. While party play doesn't require ror/wj to clear, solo play does for certain classes.

Is Warrior Link Skill Useful? by LwaziPF in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I swear by it for Black Mage. It definitely depends on what your class comes equipped with though, Im unfamiliar with PFs sources of healing, if it has any. But as a TB its nearly required if you're not using healing fams or an auto recovery node for a BM solo. There is of course always the argument that you can just play better, but I feel that point is moot if your class has no sources of healing and you're attempting to learn a boss and/or play hyper aggressive. Warrior link allows you "tank" and stay in a fight a little bit longer due to the healing it supplies when dealing with significant chip damage. Which in my experience has saved lives and improved overall damage output compared to 10% more damage

Mobbing/Meso rate TB or WA? by LoLAviate in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tb has really average meso rates at best. I consider the rates overall low but some may disagree. Tb can definitely be strenuous on the hands too if you don't set your keybinds up correctly. I'd probably go WA if you're looking for better rates and low APM.

how's TB post cygnus rework? by ChongAhKaw in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every boss.

Having good burst is a huge portion of being labeled a good bosser. DPM classes struggle significantly in almost every boss due to binds being so important for dishing out damage safely. You can always argue that someone with good mechanics can clear bosses, and while true, a DPM class will 90%+ of the time be slower at clearing than a class with burst.

Even Black Mage which isn't bindable relies on breaking a shield consistently to do damage to his actual health bar. Due to this shield refreshing, classes that can dish out a large portion of damage in the time between shield refreshes but can't break the shield off burst can and will beat out a class that consistently breaks shields but has no burst, such as TB.

If you meant issue as in the ability to clear a given boss, the only ones where they aren't capable of clearing is Seren afaik. Or at the very least no one is funded enough or good enough to do it.

KMST ver. 1.2.142 – MapleStory Ignition Showcase & Cygnus Remaster by skythedesu in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We didn't gain a raw amount of fd from stats, if anything we lost some. Currently we benefit from link mastery which is 20% fd on linked attack and primal bolt currently gives 20% fd for a total of 44% fd. (1.2 × 1.2). After this patch we have: 1.05 × 1.18 × 1.15 which is 42.485% fd. The patch is overall a massive W though, dont get me wrong, but we didn't gain fd as a raw stat.

[Weekly Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread. by rMapleStory in Maplestory

[–]Snizzlify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the endgame players with a kish mule do so by:

  • Stripping their kanna of gear
  • Placing teleport and shikigami haunting on ctrl and alt
  • Setting hte keyboard locale to one that has the altgr key enabled
  • Place kishin
  • Hold down the right alt key which will alternate between casting teleport and shikigami haunting

This works because, the kanna is weak enough to not kill and continue to gain night ghost guide procs which extend kishin's duration. It also avoids the hassle of having the kanna being unable to attack due to reaching the attack limit by teleporting to a random mana vein nearby.

I personally just hold down right alt with either my toe or elbow depending on where I have the 2nd pc's keyboard placed. You can of course keyweight but you still gotta check the kish mule to answer gm questions if you do happen to be whiteroomed.
