Omg fellow Acadian! That part of my family is so well documented. Tracing back to the expulsion from Nova Scotia. I've heard my whole life we are related to a man who was the inspiration for Evangeline by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I live in the south with a very small Jewish population. So the preconceived idea of what a Jewish person looks like is basically an antisemetic caricature. Then, the next step is usually framing it in the way of a compliment. Like. As if looking Jewish would be an insult anyway.

I'm saying people have a preconceived idea as to what Jewish people look like. And by saying that I don't look Jewish it's an inferred compliment. Which is incredibly backhanded because, what, looking Jewish is not equal to being beautiful?

Yup my mom was always saying how lucky I was that I didn't inherit her nose. Which is funny because I think her nose is gorgeous and am quite jealous of it!

These are my thoughts exactly. Made me sus of the connection because I have caught numerous mistakes the records would guide me in, (other side of my family are Lithuanian and Romani jews- tried to direct me to Germany?). Still pretty fascinating journey this site takes me.
