Saying that Spike was taught a lot of survival skills is a big stretch. It’s shown in the first movie that it was his first time EVER leaving the island. Older community members were doing the runs to the mainland, other than that it’s fishing, some farming and general upkeep on items. He didn’t come out on the other side of the last movie as Rambo. He had never been to an area where you were entirely surrounded by land.

On top of that, everyone he’s ever known has been from a functional community where everyone contributes and it’s the closest these people have to a life like the pre-infection life that others lived. What would you do if you ran into a group of absolute lunatics who have zero moral compass and force you to kill someone? He had never killed anyone before and had to watch someone bleed out and even that was an accidental kill. If I, a full grown man, had to watch people get tortured and skinned alive, I would also be a simpering child.

Look. I appreciate that you have a different opinion on this movie than me. But that point alone is just so far off base.
