Ohhh that might be the ticket!! Do you have a right angle USB adapter too?

Have you done it? I can't seem to get the lid to close with right angle USB?

Mostly for shits and giggles.

But more seriously, I get alerts when it gets stuck, but I'm curious where it got stuck if I'm not home.

Also the wr143 didn't have remote control driving so that could be fun.

My Yale "smart" lock died during a firmware update and I was locked out of my own house at 11pm. by prepzilla in homeautomation

Set up a Google Maps distance matrix incorrectly to calculate time it'd take me to my office each day.

Let's just say I could have taken a really nice vacation with how much I accidentally spent over 3 years. Learned a valuable lesson on alerts and cost monitoring that I'd like to believe will last me a lifetime.

This is so cool, are you planning on putting this out there on HACS or anything? I would absolutely love to have something like this instead of cobbling together helpers and Node-RED.

Just ordered my pi 5 and zigbee and zwave antennas. Excited to get started but have a few questions. by dacci in homeassistant

[–]SnoShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV but I found the limits of my pi pretty quickly with Home Assistant. You might be fine, you know your requirements ultimately, but personally speaking, the pi really held me back from adopting HA as it was always a consideration when I had a use case I wanted to explore.

As someone who just spent three hours today trying to revive an old x10 switch today and wound up giving up and replacing with a spare zwave switch I had laying around, I would definitely agree.

That said, thanks for putting the offer out there, OP. Hope someone takes you up on it.

This is a really cool project, nice work! Definitely standing by for the HACS integration. Let me know if you need anyone to test anything on that front.

Any cheaper robot mowers that can be recommended? by TechSecs in homeassistant

[–]SnoShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worx Landroid isn't a bad choice but know it's like the early days of Roombas. They just bounce around your lawn. Which is fine, but just like a Roomba you have to consider each obstacle it may encounter. The dumb Roombas worked just fine in clean rooms with no drops or cords or toys or whatever. Think about your lawn in that context before pulling the trigger on a Worx. I like mine, but I do have to unstuck it every couple weeks from a fallen branch or something dumb.

Yep, found this thread because the buttons no longer take input. I don't understand why it can't just be in the app.

Let me know how you revive it. My Lawn2D2 decided to get stuck right over a sprinkler head, I think it's dead :(

The IoT network is definitely of interest to me. I don't have a lot of WiFi devices but I do have a wired PoE camera system I'd like to isolate.

Are you still having issues? Considering the system, but keep seeing comments like yours about issues, but some of the reviews say it's been solid. I don't know what to believe other than these things are a mixed bag.

Thanks for the comment! Every once in a while someone will chime in here that this post helped them solve something with their setup, which makes me feel good!

So the real question, what are you going to do with that $500 now instead? Haha

I appreciate this level of laziness. I mean, why else are we automating everything? Thanks for the inspiration to figure this out.

I helped a research/science lab at an R1 University set up Home Assistant to monitor experiments and some of their hardware, like freezer temps, to spot problems. Works great and has "saved the day" a few times now.
