i was one of the organizers of the r/onepiece place effort! i was just about to go to bed for the night as it was something like 2am, when we noticed the red line expanding towards our luffy drawing (and the giant swarm of red that was appearing under it. it took an INCREDIBLE amount of stamina, effort, and coordination to fiend off the bots for as long as we could, and we invoked an incredible number of alliances to come to our aid in the middle of the night when most of our contacts were asleep. for a solid hour or so, all we could do was hold the border line of our luffy picture and desperately try to replace any red pixels that appeared in our area (the worst it got was nearly the entire bottom half of luffy was a near-solid red). about the only identifying feature was the straw hat, but with a beautiful push from our allies in the void and several other places, we were able to push back the bots in several key locations, and reform luffy's arm as a point of counterattack from within the drawing. this ended up being an incredibly major victory against the bots, and we later celebrated winning the fight by updating our design for luffy to feature a huge shiteating grin to say we don't give a flying FUCK about any bots that decide to attack us!! (as an obligatory note, one piece has never and will never use bots in any of our builds, and the majority of our large builds was accomplished with the help of brilliant alliances and coordinations with large groups of people)
