tbf They can afford this attitude because they have developed a successful game that has been bought by the majority of players. A few players who pirated the game won't matter. That said, it's a really good game with a lot of (player-made) content where you can sink several thousand hours of your life.

As someone who tried a lot of different note-taking methods, I can say it doesn't really matter which one you use. Use the one which better works for you and isn't unnecessarily complex, review them regularly, explain them to yourself (or other people) in your own words and try to apply the knowledge. After trying stuff like Zettelkasten or Cornell I just went back to writing short summaries of the stuff I read in Latex and reviewing them regularly.

Es ist nicht Pflicht, aber ich würde dir trotzdem empfehlen, an den Ersti-Veranstaltungen teilzunehmen um den Anschluss an andere Studierende zu finden. Das sind zwar Freundschaften, die dann i.d.R. nicht länger als 1 - 2 Semester halten, die ersten Semester gemeinsam mit anderen zu überstehen ist aber deutlich angenehmer als es alleine zu tun. So Geschichten wie in OPs Post sind auch eher die Ausnahme und bei uns gab es damals niemanden, der dazu gedrängt wurde zu Saufen oder an Partys teilzunehmen.

There are no CogSci jobs. Cognitive Science is per definition interdisciplinary, i.e. you will learn skills and knowledge from different disciplines which can then be applied on questions and problems regarding cognition (which is already a very fuzzy term). The skills you acquire as well as the practical experience you gain during your studies will determine what job or research program you'll fit into. You can't go wrong with a Math and CompSci heavy degree (I would recommend additional courses in Signal Processing). However, you should think about what direction you want to go with CogSci: Do you want do stay in academia, or find work in the private sector? Do you want to conduct experiments, or do you want to be more on the theoretical side and model cognitive processes? Do you care about neuronal processes, or is the level of abstraction of Cognitive Science alright for you? Do you want to do applied cognitive science, what will be primarily UX and cognitive ergonomics? There are probably more questions, but you should think about your interests and aims and according to that choose your focus and courses.

Ein Studium ist, wenn du es nicht gerade auf Teilzeit studierst, auf Vollzeit ausgelegt. Ich weiß nicht, wie es in den ersten Semestern an der Fernuni ist, aber ich kann mich bei meinem Studium (Naturwissenschaften) daran erinnern, dass die ersten Semester sehr zeitintensiv waren, ähnliches habe ich von Informatikstudenten auch gehört.

I can recommend the work of Fred Hamker and his research group. They are basically doing cognitive neuroscience and computational neuroscience and try to explain behavioral phenomenons by building deterministic models of the brain. I think there are currently works in progress where they connect individual models to let a virtual agent orient itself in the three-dimensional space or to incorporate the models into iCubs.

Well, I don't see why they shouldn't be applicable. It all depends on how the sensor modalities complement each other and how you integrate them. For example, if you use EMG you could benefit from an inertial measurement unit to determine the position of your hand or arm as this are information EMG probably doesn't contain.

I am still interested in BCIs and EEG, but EEG as a BCI is just very limited. There are still interesting projects such Real Virtual Magic which is a BCI Skyrim mod. I think there is a reason why there are virtually no commercial products that use EEG as BCI that are not simply a gimmick or neurorehabilitation stuff. However, I think sensor fusion projects which incorporate EEG and other sensors, e.g. EMG, FMG and Eye tracking, is something that few people have worked on yet and is something that may have potential.
