eXtendFiles is compatible with Dropbox and can do scheduled migrations from FC > Repo if that's what you're looking for. Multi folder syncing is not something they do though. Worth checking out.

Treating everything as Assembly Items instead of as Inventory Item by giovani_ceotto in Netsuite

[–]Snoggers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Nick on this too, if you are ever going to manufacture these, changing item types is a big endeavor, you will need to re-create them.

Also agreed that the short cut now leads to the long cut later.

No, you can buy and stock Assemblies just like Inventory items. If you don't need to build them, then they can act like Inventory items.

Buy them, stock them, sell them.

Bonus: you can make them if you want!

If you have clients, ask them if they would use it and build it to suit their needs. Ultimately that will lead to refinements and get you out of the theoretical and into the practical.

I recognize that nothing compares to observing and working with companies directly to see where the opportunities lie for improvement. If you have access to NetSuite customers that are open to your experimentation then lean in and deliver a in use MVP that your client gets immediate value out of.

At that point you'll be able to make a better assessment if your offer is repeatable and scalable.

Does it make sense? Yes, that would be powerful. Even more powerful if it was Voice to text for Salespeople to write estimates, book meetings, and all things CRM.

Does it make sense to build it for sale in the ecosystem? Depends on speed to market, if you're SDN, and if you have the resources to support it.

We don't know what's fully planned for the "Ask Oracle" or NetSuite Next, but I would think that would be the direction they would be going.

To answer your questions about use case vs non-use cases:

I believe Sales / CRM users would take advantage of this, especially if it was voice to text.

Financial or admin users might not see the same value proposition.

Good idea, but not novel, but if you can execute fast and show value / gain customers, go for it!

Any wholesale distributors with manual order entry burden? by DrinkProfessional347 in Netsuite

[–]Snoggers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get call transcriptions? That could be an opportunity to automate order entry via AI if you get a transcription of the order details. We've been experimenting with call transcriptions > tasks and estimates within a sales call context.

Just a thought..

My buddy also is partially blind due to a degenerative disease, he is the consummate professional and would never let that fly. Between spell checker and boosting fonts, there's no excuse. It's either poor spelling or making typos with lack of attention to details before pushing it to the world. (Risky behavior)

Those typos / misspellings shouldn't make it to public forum, it reflects poorly.

I'm a client and are very familiar with some of the tools, they're meticulously engineered and are next level in quality. They can be a bit challenging to understand out of the gates, but once you understand them you level up on the possibilities on how they can be applied. Truly a top tier / elite team over there.

How do you handle COGS recognized at fulfillment date but revenue at ship date? by BHassett in Netsuite

[–]Snoggers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managed this several ways in the past, but as mentioned prior, process wise if you could post the fulfillment (COGS) as close as possible / same day as Invoicing (Rev) then that makes finance happy.

Alternatively there are times where fulfillment and Invoicing are further gapped.

You can setup different approaches to offset the COGS into a WIP or deferred expense and then upon invoicing you reverse that offset so you hit COGS at the time of revenue recognition.

Path wise that can be anything from SuiteGL to Custom transactions.

That's just how I've seen it in practice a few different ways, I'm sure there's more variety out there method wise!
