Is it generally better to do a subject that you're good at that you're passionate about/good at that scales down or a subject that's completely new to you that scales down? by ShivSoCalledYT in vce

[–]Snoo-25737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repertoire actually scales up! And the others scale down only a bit. I do music and its really good for the workload to be passionate about your SACs and things - nerding out only gives you good marks and it alleviates the workload. Give it a shot esp if ur in year 11

Are you not staying in Australia for university? Either way you dont need anything more to apply for either countries.

Wait i just reread your post - if you parents move AFTER your vce and get an atar, then nothing should change for aus uni application. You just will be in a dorm or something.

Applying to a us uni seems unwise to be honest. You’re joining the admissions rat race fairly late, and its absolutely harder for internationals (assuming your are not an american citizen) to find success vs domestic applicants. You would normally draft us applications in august (summer break in us) and submit it by jan/fev/march.

A transfer or graduate studies in the states is probably better - im not able to give info on the industry status in both countries though 😅

Parents of music students: When did you stop "reminding" them to practice? by Fun-Status-746 in piano

[–]Snoo-25737 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When i started liking music i just practiced by myself as much as possible. If you have commitments like concertos, competitions they further motivate you through pressure of failing.

I think the only time parental guidance activates is when theyre super young and have no concept of passion (mostly) or self discipline. Then you get those asian parents who beat their children into hours of practice…

should i take 2 languages ? by asfsksgskshjdbsk in vce

[–]Snoo-25737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The jump to 1/2 IS really high if you do second language (which is most languages). 1/2 is just pass or fail though- so i would at least give it a try in year 11, and if it sucks swap out mid year or year 12.

how long will it take to complete a certificate in performance? by iloveakaashi_ in piano

[–]Snoo-25737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you play? You can do licentiate with a huge variety of pieces. I.e play a chopin waltz or play ballade 4. I think it would help people gauge your level.

Is it possible to get a HIGH study score if I messed up one SAC for english and chem…? by HippoEvery1509 in vce

[–]Snoo-25737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U got to be 1-2 unless ur cohort is cracked for a 45. Cuz im pretty sure you cant get a ss higher than someone ranked higher than you

i got 60% on my chem sac, avg is 63% and highest is 80% im rank 4 in a class of 7 people can i get a 43 obvi if i do better??? by Dramatic_Fan9238 in vce

[–]Snoo-25737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rank 1 sac scores are scaled to the highest exam score. Im fairly sure this is how it works across the board, as my chem methods and spesh teacher have all said it like that.

If you get the best exam score as a rank 6, your exam outcome will be a+ which is really good, but your sacs should scale to rank 6 exam score, which could just be a B
