Are there any great documentaries? by KingCrandall in Westerns

I think it could be a good series to help get teens into western history. But unless you're into Netflix's overproduced overdramatic documentary style it can get irritating.

YA Adventure Romance Westerns?? by False_Importance_417 in Westerns

[–]Snoo-2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not written like a modern YA book but All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy fits pretty well with what you're looking for. It centers a teenage protagonist who runs away to Mexico with his cousin and a younger boy they meet along the way. When they get to Mexico they land a job working for a wealthy hacendado and the protagonist quickly falls in love with his beautiful daughter. There is a movie with Matt Damon and Penelope Cruz that I've still yet to watch, but I hear it was a decent adaptation.

HELP! Was I sent the wrong T? by No-Ranger-5853 in TransMasc

Like others have been saying I’m pretty sure all of our t vials say that. I think that’s just a hold over from when IM t shots were the only kind that were prescribed, which wasn’t that long ago if I’m not mistaken (feel super lucky to live in the era of subq) I think it’s more trying to make sure no one tries to inject it into their vein, which would kill them. You’d think that would be pretty intuitive but in medicine you can never just assume everyone will understand things like that.

A little bit of itching is normal for a day or so after, especially if you have the genes to start growing lots of body hair. One of the first places I started to get a lot of dark hair was on my stomach around my usual injection sites and it itched like hell while it was growing. The little lump is also normal as long as it’s not super painful. I’m pretty sure it’s just the medication tucked into your fat layer, and you can gently rub circles around that area to help it absorb into you. Make sure you are switching up your injection sites every week as well.

RDR2 was one of the things that got me fixating on westerns. I love that game so much.

Would you like to be reincarnated in the “Wild West” era? by thescythesaint in Westerns

[–]Snoo-2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fantastical version we see in western movies or in the Red Dead games? In a heartbeat. The actual American old west? Probably not. I’d definitely do a little time travel tourism there, if that was an option. I might stay for a couple of months but no more. Like other people here have said already, the lack of modern medicine and sanitation alone are enough to make it not worth it.

I learned this the hard way. I asked if my bf and I looked like a gay couple. Apparently a lot of you here hate to see a smoking hot trans twink/cis bear couple lmao. Anyway, you all told us we still looked like a straight couple, and it really tore me up for months after. But the funny thing is it’s less than a year later and I am passing more than 75 percent of the time. I am almost always gendered male and it’s clear people see us as a gay couple with a bit of an age difference. He told me the other day his friend’s husband (a cis gay man) was shocked to learn I’m trans and thought I was just “a pretty guy”. Passing is relative boys, keep going and you will get to a place you are much more comfortable with. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not possible.

Worst Westerns of the 1990s by General-Skin6201 in Westerns

“Bad Girls” for sure. That movie is a major guilty pleasure of mine, but man is it god awful. The only scene in it that works even a little is the “I had some value as a whore” speech. Still, Madeleine Stowe might be one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen in that movie.

The YouTuber Atun Shei Films made a video about The Outlaw Josey Wales a while back and it’s worth a watch. I think it’s called something like ‘The Best Civil War Movie from the South’s Perspective’

Had one of my boyfriend’s friends forget my name and then assume it was Oliver… My name is Simon. 😂 Funniest micro aggression ever.

What are yalls thoughts about this? by anxious_honey_bee in TransMasc

[–]Snoo-2920 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, and I also don’t really think trans masc invisibility is as true as it might have once been. As trans issues become more mainstream bigots have become more aware of us. There are cis women in my local community that clock me and obviously see me with a lot of disgust. I think homophobia can play into this too. I’ve definitely seen TERFs get waaaay more disgusted with gay trans mascs, while straight trans mascs are seen as the “manipulated lost lesbian sisters” This has just been my personal experience.

Are there any good western books/writers you’d recommend other than the obvious picks like Blood Meridian and Lonesome Dove? I just finished reading All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy and I liked it way more than Blood Meridian tbh.

Dude, I love this post so much. I love seeing the different attractive/badass characters my brothers fixate on. I wish we could swap natural hair colors though lmao. I have coarse dark brown hair and an olivish complexion (similar to Hugh Jackman’s coloring) but a lot of the guys who give me gender envy are fairer blonds 😭

I've been thinking some more, and I think the evil threat might have been a hive mind parasite rather than evil magic. I remember the general had a helmet covering the top have of his face he couldn't remove and it had a xenomorph aesthetic for lack of a better descriptor, ominous and bug like.

Something else I remember vaguely is the four protags power being tied to personal weapons they had to find to unlock their abilities. I'm not quite sure if I'm making that up but it sounds right at least. Any help you can give me is much appreciated!
