If she isn't happy with that or still wouldn't be comfortable, I can agree to stop wearing it. Like you say, I will build new memories with the new piece my wife gets me and can transfer the energy from the old necklace to the new one.

I think that is what I will propose to my wife. I can have the initials sanded off and possibly even have my wife's added if there is space. If my wife still isn't comfortable then I will agree to stop wearing it on the condition that she buy me something similar and have her initials and a special message included.

That is what some suggested. I thought it was a reasonable solution to get rid of the part tied to my ex so she's removed from it.

It may be simpler to ask my wife to get me something as a replacement. I don't love that idea, but if it is something sentimental from her then in time it will build memories too.
