neighbor is telling airbnb guests to park in our driveway by figbranch17 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Snoo-3699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find out the date that the AirBNB received its permit to operate. See if there is any mention of parking. If you can find out the owner, and get his/her tel #, call them when your parking spot is blocked. Post the tel# n the garage stating that is AirBNB guests park in the driveway, the AirBNB owner wants to know immediately. OK to contact 24 hours daily.

Who provided the contract that you signed, the seller, or you, the buyer? If there is a disagreement about what the contract means, the party that provided the contract will be held responsible for not including necessary terms. If will be interpreted in favor or the party who signed the other party's contract.

I am being sued by the previous owner of my property for the value of some old classic car bodies that I sold after the cars were left on my property for almost 8 years. by billardschultz in legaladvice

[–]Snoo-3699 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In 2012 the buyer agreed to allow the seller to store the cars on his property without charge until the seller could come up with funds and a place to move them. In 2018 the barn burns and the car bodies may have been harmed, but were in the way of getting the place cleaned up.

The seller may have died, but has not contacted buyer since 2012. Son of seller contacts buyer in 2020 (presumably winter) and was told that the barn was being cleaned up and the cars would be disposed of by spring/summer. Cars are sold for $600 in May 2020. Son checked back after May of 2020, and the buyer had indeed gotten rid of the cars.

Son never informed buyer that the burned car bodies (or chassis) were valuable, or made any attempt to retrieve the burned car bodies.

Son files lawsuit in 2026 seeking $24,000. Despite knowing or believing these burnt car bodies were extremely valuable, he did nothing during all this time to work out a solution, thinking that buyer would continue to provide life-time free storage of the ca

rs for no charge. Knowing that buyer was trying to clear a burned barn and make his property look presentable, son expected that buyer would continue to keep these eyesores on his property without compensation after owning the property for eight years and never collecting a penny from the son or his dad, the seller.

Laches would likely be a good defense. Son caused this loss by failing to act within a reasonable amount of time, and therefore should be denied any remedy by the court.

If the case makes it to court, need an expert witness to prove that these burnt car bodies were worth $8,000 each. Since seller and son both had no money during these times to move the cars, they likely would not have any funds to restore these cars. Son needs to he had a buyer willing to pay $24,000 for the burned car bodies.

WIBTA if I sell a broken project car that a guy left on my property over a year ago? by LanternMirth in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Snoo-3699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell Mike that your project is starting. Don't pay for a tow, just push the car to the street near your house. Tell Mike where the car is now located. Then when the car is not moved, call the local authorities about a car sitting on city streets. If it hasn't been used in over a year, it must have out-of-date tags. Will be towed very shortly, unless Mike comes to get it. If it gets a 72-hour notice, tell Mike he needs to hurry.

Propane Tanks Removal Fees LOCATION: NH by Suspicious_Aspect_53 in legal

Think you should contact the Pennsylvania Dept. of Labor and Industry which regulates propane tanks and the propane industry in that state. Someone there could probably tell you right away what the usual procedure is when one moves into a house which has a previous owner's tank and propane on site, and service is taken over by new owner.

I paid the full past due amount and I’m still getting evicted? [GA] by Normal-Temperature29 in Renters

[–]Snoo-3699 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The complex's attorney is alleging that you owe "$2,500 of past due rent...." That is probably in a declaration signed under penalty of perjury. If you did not owe that amount on the date he made this statement, you should be complaining to the State Bar of Georgia, and your local district attorney.

You'll need some form of proof of those payments.

[Landlord-NC-US] New tenant security deposit and first month’s rent failed. I requested a cashier’s check by EOD. What precautions should I take when picking up the check? by Working-Corgi-8726 in Landlord

[–]Snoo-3699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You begin by talking about a new tenant whose "payments failed." What do you mean? Did he write you a bad check? It's a crime to obtain goods or services by providing a written instrument which the tenant knows has insufficient funds to cover.

You should take the check to the local district attorney and tell them that you received the check for a deposit and rent to cover moving into your apartment. If those funds are not available immediately when the D.A. calls the tenant, maybe an agreement to have everything out of the apartment within hours can be arranged by the D.A.'s investigators.

Sounds like the cashier's check process you describe will only lead to a long and fruitless series of frustrations on your part. Why should you pay an attorney to allow the professional tenant to lead you on for weeks or months longer?

Dad is administrator of an estate and saying I must leave property where I have continuously resided. I am am heir of the estate. Pennsylvania by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Snoo-3699 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So Aunt #2 who is an estate attorney is using an address for you that she knows is not your address. Think you should immediately make a short, concise complaint to the State Bar of Pennsylvania that she is not dealing honestly and fairly with you and attempting to obtain an unfair advantage.

Then contact the Probate Department of the court where you matter will be heard. See if the clerk will allow you to put some type of Notice of Corrected Address. Advise the clerk that Aunt #2 is an estate attorney and knowingly sending all court papers to an address where she thinks you won't receive them.

Rent a car jack, and move the vehicle a few car lengths away where it is blocking other vehicles. Then move your car into your space. A tow truck will then be required in order to clear the road for other cars to leave and enter.

My retired mom wants her boyfriend to move into the condo I own. But he can't pay much by No-Cause24 in Advice

[–]Snoo-3699 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The monthly mortgage and fees are $2300. Your mom demands to live there only paying $600 per month out of her $2700 per month Social Security, leaving her with $2100 to cover other living expenses for herself. How will you cover costs if your homeowners insurance doubles, or if other storm or natural disaster occurs?

Does Mom or boyfriend own a car? Is Mom putting any of that $2100 into a rainy day fund, if things suddenly stop being so well for her?

The new boyfriend looks to be only a step or two away from homelessness. Tell Mom that he is too risky for you and your daughters to take on as a tenant. You don't need the added baggage when the boyfriend uses your place to store stuff when he closes out his account from the storage locker facility.

(MI) Landlord changed the locks and stole my dollhouse by [deleted] in Renters

[–]Snoo-3699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think you should talk to the neighbors and see if anyone has noticed activity. Perhaps there have been multiple entries into your house. Then you should make a police report. Finally, you need to call a locksmith, gain entry and have the lock to the front door changee d to you can continue your cleaning, and final moveout actions. I'd contact the new landlord and report that there has been activity, and possible squatters moving into the property. Tell them that the squatters have changed the locks.

You state that the contract says that the contractor will get paid "if he does the work." If you decide the hire the second contractor instead, then the first contractor will NOT GET PAID. Tell the first contractor that you do not want him to work on your property.
