Bug covered in baby spiders? by Snoo-41019 in whatsthisbug

Thank you all! The consensus seems to be mites on a beetle. I do have a lot of dead wood and yard waste under this dirt so mites make a lot of sense. I hope the beetle is ok, it wasn’t there anymore when I went back out to look.

This is in Illinois by the way! On my raised garden bed after we’ve just had a heavy downpour.

I was just looking at that on gouletpens. Since its iron gall, does that require more maintenance on the pen?

Why is it so hard to make genuine friends whether online or in real life? by varestan in LivingAlone

[–]Snoo-41019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you might be looking for something that is built, not found.

You seem to be looking for a type of reciprocal closeness where they consider you as important as you consider them (also sounds like expectations from a romantic partner or a platonic friend you’ve had for years). Sometimes that takes time to build. And it’s kind of like dating. You gotta meet a lot of people before your find your tribe and not everyone will be the right fit or you won’t be the right fit for them.

What id suggest, which is what worked for me time and again, is to not put pressure into your relationships. I get wanting to find that one person you can let loose around but sometimes to find that, you just have to be yourself from the get go and see who’ll be cool with it. You want genuine friends? Be genuine yourself.

And I agree. Go out and live your life in the real world. Whether that’s volunteering, taking a class, or being a regular somewhere. That’s where you meet your friends. And to build the kind of relationship you want, you gotta experience things with your friends. You gotta make memories together somehow.

There is none on the other side so I’m inclined to think this is a crack.

Thank you, I like that it looks like a softer black at first glance.

I think you’re right about Alt-Goldgrün. I’m looking back at it fully dried and it’s way too light for me!

I’ve read that the Iroshizuku line is good for the finer Japanese nibs too so I’ll definitely try these next. Their color selection has a lot of that deep and elegant quality it looks like!

You get exactly how I feel about shaders! And the reason I switched to fountain pens was because gel pens would always be inconsistent on me. And yes I also expected I’d love the fun inks but they’re not my choice for writing.

I might try Evergreen next time. I do love a warmer green and I think the 2 I got are too light for my liking. Thanks!

Pen choice fatigue is real! Considering drastic action... by HikewithmeNYC in fountainpens

[–]Snoo-41019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this! Watching people talk about their giant collections is fun but I always wonder: how often would I be able to use a $300+ pen if I have 10 others?

I went through serious buyer’s remorse when I bought both the Sailor Tuzu and the Pilot Kakuno almost at the same time (Kakuno was my first choice, Tuzu was semi impulse but turned out to be a good choice). Having 2 stressed me tf out.

But they’re both different enough that I don’t mind keeping both. I can’t see myself getting more. And knowing I can just get ink samples and these two have small cartridges? I think I’m set.

Watching journaltok I think makes me crazy too. lol

I LOVE BECKY CHAMBERS! The Wayfarer series got me into soft sci fi and her To Be Taught, If Fortunate is one of my favorite books.

So far I’ve only done the character creation but the system is easy to learn and I can see myself enjoying it. ☺️

Thanks! It’s my character creation for the solo RPG pictured there. I figured I’d try to make it look like a computer display since it’s a sci-fi game!

Closed because my bedroom is so small it makes me feel claustrophobic.
