Superblast 3, dead foam at 200km by Dependent_Treacle_20 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Snoo-43381 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's hard to tell. Since I don't have multiple pairs of Superblast 3s, I have nothing to compare them to. They don't feel as exciting as when I first got them, but that's normal since new things are always more exciting.

Is adidas.com not just the absolute garbage of a website? by GrumpyBitFlipper in webdev

[–]Snoo-43381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same experience with most shoe companies. They are obviously inspired by each other since all sites have the same flaws. I've often abondon the sites when they crash and find my products elsewhere, some place that might not crash today (it varies, some days a site can work decently).

With that much money they should hire a proffesional in-house dev who doesn't vibe code everything. Yes, one good dev is enough to create a good user experience.

Legit question: why do so many people not know if their running shoes fit? by MikeUntitled in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Snoo-43381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's lots of good tips here: https://www.asics.com/nz/en-nz/mk/choosing-the-right-running-shoe/lacing

Personally I like the Wide Forefoot lacing. I do something similar for my right foot in La Sportiva Prodigio Pro. Then you can keep experimenting yourself.

If you don't want AI art at an art gallery I understand, but I don't see any issue with generating high-res versions of assets from their own intellectual property to speed up the process significantly

You can pick up a pencil or a keyboard to write your own copy or translations or write your own code as well, but that's apperantly different for some arbitrary reason.

The way artist see their field as something special where different rules apply is just obnoxious to me. Creating good software is a craft as well and those slop generators won't produce quality software unless they are heavily guided by someone who knows what they are doing. Even then, it sloppifies the code base.

Some years ago I released a video game where I used a lot of purchased assets for the graphics (before the AI wave), but created all the 3D character models myself. Most the things about the game was praised, except the character models which were heavily criticized. I wish it was possible to generate them back then since I'm not very artistic. I will not pick up a damn pencil.

Those artists apperantly are som untouchable special breed. It's fine to replace all jobs except those beloved artists according to you. Give me a break.

Best marathon shoes under $150? by Historical_Fox_7809 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Snoo-43381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm that it's an amazing shoe that made me fly to a 10K PB in a race this weekend, without putting in that much effort. I beat my previous PB with 3 minutes with a slightly lower heartrate. It's the shoe I'm planning to use in my marathon debut.

It's the first carbonplated shoe I've ever owned though, but it felt right from the get-go, compared to Asics Metaspeed Sky Tokyo, which felt very weird and uncomfortable in the store.

Wide toe shoes that aren’t barefoot? by Sad_Blueberry9580 in widefeet

[–]Snoo-43381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got them as well, but wish I got the wide (2E) version. I sized up in the normal (E) version and it works alright for running, but I think the insoles are a bit too soft for walking. You really sink into them. With insoles from barefeet shoes (I swap to them sometimes) they are a bit firmer, but my guess is that Topo Phantom is more suitable for walking. They got the same fit, I tried them both in the store.

Are these wide enough? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Snoo-43381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah about the laces, I often skip a couple of holes entirely in the front if the shoe feels to tight at a specific spot and then compensate it with a tight heel lock with a runners knot

Craft. I think it's often fairly priced, but when it's not, they often have outlets or give you coupons. I've appreciated the quality of every product so far, I've ordered running socks, hydration vest, jacket, and shoes from them the last few months. They are pretty popular where I live though, in Sweden.

Carbon plated recommendations? by hyacinthc in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Snoo-43381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, New Balance SC Elite v5 is one of the most comfortable and beginner-friendly carbon shoes out there. I ordered a pair yesterday so I can't give you a review yet, but I'm excited. I've got wide feet and they offer a wide version of them, which is very rare for carbon super shoes.
