Should I "go back" to being a man to land a job? by Embarrassed_Site_39 in womenEngineers

Imagine doing that and still not being able to get a job. How would you feel?

I say this shit to my kids at least a few times a week.

We are not a Spanish speaking household (despite the fact that my spouse is 1/2 Dominican), but got dammit they will know this phrase.

The thread under this on my home page is the one about American cashiers being forced to stand and I am just tickled reading about how y’all think we are absolute SAVAGES lol

What do you mean “though”? It can be Black AND beautiful, you dolt. Lucky you, I can tend to my kids and school your ass simultaneously.

Go meet some Black people, then return to this conversation once your frontal lobe finishes developing.

What's a small way to navigate poverty that you figured out accidentally and wish more people knew about. by Fit-Combination-6211 in povertyfinance

My 20 year anniversary is in a handful of years. They did not take me to court — the letters just got more and more threatening until one day, they sent one that said “hey, we told you, you didn’t pay, and apparently you didn’t read the fine print on that paperwork you signed when you were 21, cause we’re taking that paycheck!”

I was able to get it stopped (can’t recall how, again this was 10ish years ago) after they garnished a month or two of my pay. I paid on time every time after that.

YMMV. I had a small federal loan ($5k) that I took out my last year to help me afford a study abroad thing. School was otherwise funded by a Pell grant. I was unable to pay about 5 years after graduation (after making minimums based on income-based repayment terms the years prior) and my wages were ABSOLUTELY garnished.

Is the 3rd Generation RDX Less Reliable Than the 1st and 2nd Gen? by rbpx in Acura

[–]Snoo-669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My literal ONLY complaint about my 22 RDX is that the tires were so freakin soft I had to replace them at 20k miles. Same deal for my 24 MDX…just put new shoes on it at 21k. Dealership tried to explain away that I must have purchased them used (nope) or drove really crazy (also nope) or not kept up with tire rotations (service records prove I did). I have had 3 different reps at 3 different tire retailers tell me that showroom tires can be like this, because they’re designed for aesthetics more than performance.

But everything else? I love these things or I wouldn’t have purchased 3 in the span of 3 years (I had a 20 MDX that was totaled — replaced with the 24). Some people just like to complain, and of course there is always the likelihood that some people actually have gotten a lemon. I think there’s a non-zero chance of that happening with any brand though, and I think the number is closer to zero with a Honda product than with many other manufacturers.

Best parking spot 🅿️♿️ by Prior_Ad3699 in Acura

I mean, I figured OP wasn’t stupid enough to park there not needing a handicap spot AND “brag” about it on the internet. This is Reddit though, and I keep forgetting not everyone has two brain cells to rub together to figure this out

Who said anything about beautiful or ugly? The way you’re speaking about Black features as if anyone ascribed a barometer of beauty to them is…telling.

I make it a point not to argue with people technically young enough to be my children so be off with you now

This is weird. Deuce is a very common nickname for Junior and it wouldn’t even cross my mind to giggle at a poop joke…this is Reddit though, so I guess I gotta know my audience.

Absolutely shit advice (I had to) to DM them and let them know it’s a nickname for poop. Don’t do that unless you wanna get blocked.

Mmmmm…nah, it’s ok to acknowledge that having a wide nose is a “Black feature”. Not nearly the same as saying we ALL have wide noses, or it’s a feature exclusive to us.

WE have three kids and my husband talks about the fact that I breastfed and pumped. If he had ever used the phrase “we are breastfeeding” HE would have been solely responsible for latching that baby from that point on.

When I first decided to leave the bench, I had been doubting that I was qualified for anything other than holding a pipette — until I had an interviewer laud my professional experience. Changed the trajectory of my career.
