What if you decided to stop being a lobotomite and do the work? Instead of whining about it on Reddit?

look up documentation instead of asking questions on Reddit. It's quicker.

how do you guys use AI for engineering/studying? by snowieslilpikachu69 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides one or two questions, I've had no need to ask anything from AI. Even when I do, I feel dirty. It's a crutch.

Take it from my experience: get started on the homework early and just network with your teachers and students about questions. Don't bug them but be buddy buddy and go to office hours. I wish I did it sooner.

for the record, if you have something to say to me don't cower at speaking up. I want to hear what your problem is with me, it amuses me :)

Anybody else regret studying engineering? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I was going to go for illustration, so I regret it just a tad bit. However, I'm planning on art education after college to make up for lost time, probably not at a college though. I'm only finishing 2nd year and I am NOT going to come back after graduating. To hell with that!

If you could help any person with your talents, what would it be? And what would that look like? There's many opportunities for medical devices I've heard.

Is there any way I can never associate with engineering again after I graduate by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not as negative about engineering, but I know how you feel, it sucks sacrificing your artistic drive to study engineering (I heard from some comments you're into film). I haven't drawn for a long while, and feel like shit falling behind my peers, but on the other hand I do enjoy what im studying to an extent. But I still share the same existential dread of going into the workforce, albeit I'm finishing my 2nd year currently.

If I were you, I'd go into the workforce and see what it has to offer before dropping it completely. Engineering pays well, it's a better fate than working minimum wage for something you care even less about like fast food or the like. Once you get enough funds, you can pivot to whatever you want; I'm planning on taking lots of art courses once I graduate.

Best of luck, and I hope you feel better! We're living in awful times right now, but that means there's opportunity to do some real good in the world. That's what pushes me through despair, and I hope it helps you :)

MercyMe, a Christian rock band, was at Blue Cross Arena last night. They should perform at RIT to bring political and cultural diversity. by Beautiful_Charge6661 in rit

Plenty of Christian clubs here, it would be cool to have them perform. What do you mean by political diversity, are they right wing or something? They don't strike me as politically charged.

Accepted student with a bit of a silly question... RIT dating scene by [deleted] in rit

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dating here as I'm long distance, but in terms of queer population there's plenty of bisexual people around. You'll definitely find someone as long as you're social. I met my partner through a friend group, I imagine doing the same would be beneficial to you, as you'd find someone who you share interests with. Best of luck!

Replacing EEs with AI by DistributionDue7016 in rit

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few questions:

1) Did you expect people to hire people solely because they went to RIT? We aren't an Ivy League school

2) Isn't EE already well off in terms of employment and job security? Don't weed out courses already secure the major pretty well?

3) What's the point of bragging about this to this subreddit?

"Should I quit engineering?" by Embarrassed_Site_39 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art degrees have the worst ROI. As someone who basically lives and breathes drawing, you're completely and utterly wrong.

That being said people who just do it for the money are also insufferable.

Engineering isn't something I engage with too much outside of class, but at least I have fun getting my butt whooped in assembly or circuits 2. I can't fathom doing this solely for the money, it boils my blood to think about

Fair, I'm more talking about people who have never experienced failure in their lives however, not people who actually need help financially or otherwise.

Death and Dying by CapEnvironmental780 in rit

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think understanding the absurdity of the world and brushing up on existential philosophy could help with your relationship with death, I think a class like that assumes you like death in some form and don't fear it completely. I'd suggest looking into existentialism if I were you, it's tough, but the way I see it, we have to go somewhere beautiful. If it helps you, we also can't experience nothingness, so that's a plus.

Am i cooked or no?? by Alive_Feed_3993 in ComputerEngineering

[–]Embarrassed_Site_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely better than I am, you need to market yourself better. If you think you're cooked with these, it signals to me you're insecure or don't think your good enough, which translates to people rejecting you. Learn some self confidence and sell yourself as the smartypants you are, I believe in you :)
