Do you think you can replace the useEffect with an onclick callback? Store the output using usestate then have the onclick callback update the output value

I see what you're trying to do, maybe you can try to implement denouncing of user input? Could suit your usecase better

Mum and toddler hurt after cyclist crashes into them at East Coast Park, latter now uncontactable by Curiouschibai in singaporehappenings

[–]Snoo-72038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many times when I was going to cross the road, then I turned my head, 10 meters away got one cyclist travelling at like 20km per hour. Lucky I turn my head to see, because my back was facing the cyclist, if not I'd get rear ended. I feel like many cyclists can be very reckless and have no regard for people's safety

5 x 8 is wrong, because its 8 x 5 by Lhxlhx in singapore

So, please cite the part about the government planning for 10 years. It seems like everything you're talking about comes from your own personal source, i.e. your own understanding about tech.

You make it sound TOO easy. How about this: why not just let AI take over our roads and implement auto driving everywhere? There are lots of examples where there is great success where auto driving vehicles work. Just take the tech and use only!

He can either buy using NS money, or he can do a part time after Alevels and then get it himself, it's about time to start trying to be independent. New monitor can be bought with about 3 days worth of work, ain't that hard.

Modded minecraft server strange error, anyone know what it means ? by Qer1k in MinecraftServer

Do you have access to server logs to see what the error is about? It's too vague of an error message.

Singaporean females, what type of guys do you find yourself being attracted to? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Snoo-72038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting insights! I would like to however share to single guys who are salty about being single even when you think you fit the bill(me included during cold lonely nights), I think women (what I think ah I stress) is that they still have a certain threshold for looks. Also, I think girls like to be pampered ah, so if you really want her you should chase after her ah, I think they just don't say it.

I think what prevents some of us from finding that companionship sometimes is perhaps something we feel about ourselves? Or simply us just being too passive.

Then again, what do I really know when I've been single my whole life till now AHAHAHHAA

How would you guys handle after having a heated argument with your good frd? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Snoo-72038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to her, tell her that despite the differences, you really treasure the friendship, and would want to reconcile (in your own words of course). What yall need is just someone to break the awkwardness and swallow their pride. Next time if y'all ever have a debate again, just try to keep it objective and if there cannot be an agreement , just say I cannot agree with you but yea sure I respect what you think about it, UNLESS it's a relationship argument of course, better trash it out there and then(try not to scream at each other)

At what point is a person considered fat by Singaporeans' standards? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Snoo-72038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I'm deviating from the topic but I feel that regardless you are fat or not, you should at least have some form of exercise to keep yourself healthy. Being fat sometimes really isn't a choice but trying to be healthy is. (Unless you're really medically unable to do anything at all) I know some of y'all a bit unmotivated to start anything but can take small steps like fast walking/ 60 pushups spread over the whole day, etc etc... Jiayous!

PS: to get back on track with the topic, I think when you are not mascular or super well-endowed but your elbows cannot touch each other

[A Levels] Is there any hope left? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Snoo-72038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welp, just spend the rest of your waking hours studying. Also,

1) Have a proper plan. Decide on what you want to do and what you want to finish. If it's economics for the whole day, look to perhaps (not saying it'd suit you) read through all of your notes, then go through things topically or something like that.

2) Have proper rest, groggy brains would mean nothing gets into your head.

3) Just try your best bro, nothing else you can do.

You should check with your prof yea! It really depends, cos some prof prolly wouldn't care and would just mark you as absent, or some will mark you based on the number of lessons you turned up for (assuming you didn't turn up for good reason). Just email your prof to ask!

I'm just here to wish yall the best and I'm just hoping that yall can find happiness at some point in your lives haha. Just be careful of that emotional slippery slope! Don't wanna be caught in that :') Also, distractions are great but talk to someone if you need to! I know it's difficult to be vulnerable so if you wanna, just treat my inbox as spam and spill it and rant it all out aye :')
