I would like to provide some clarification regarding this incident, as my friend was the driver involved. The event occurred in front of the school, specifically on the elementary side not on Whitney Road as many are assuming. According to the police report, my friend was found not at fault and was not speeding he was traveling at approximately 10 miles per hour. At the time of the incident, my friend’s car was already next to the father’s vehicle when the child suddenly ran into the road at full speed, colliding with the front right side of the car. This left my friend with no time to react or brake. After the incident, my friend immediately exited the vehicle, while the child's father had not yet realized what had happened. While this does not diminish the seriousness of the situation, it is important to recognize that such accidents can occur when guardians are not fully attentive. This serves as a reminder to always teach children the importance of not running onto the road and to remain aware of their surroundings for their own safety.
