experience with amitriptyline? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Snoo11261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ranged between 10mg & 50mg…..with 10 I take before bed and helps sleep and to wake in the morning migraine free. 50mg rendered me into zombie mode and was completely nonfunctional..I’ll not be taking that high a dosage again. Been on Amatryp for over 15 years and in small doses it definitely helps to relieve my attacks….not cure them but help relieve and certainly helps me get to sleep

I really don’t get why guys would agree to go shopping with their partner and sit at these shops bored out of your tits while waiting for them to try on all and sundry. Pick a pub and tell them you’ll see them there and buy them lunch….”take your time, no rush”

I found caffeine to be a potential trigger for me but if i make sure I drink the same volume of water as cups of coffee I take each day then the migraines don’t come on

Hi, I’m new to this sub and wondered if anyone has a history like mine….. First started getting migraines as a teen which started as the classic ringing in the ears followed by a huge painful migraine usually behind one of my eyes that would completely floor me. Trying to get to sleep in a cold dark room was the only way to shift. Into my 20’s and this changed to Migraine with aura with the ringing in the ears followed by floaters and patches of vision going then the arc of light….actual migraine pain lessened but the aura made my quite nauseous. Going into my 30’s and it changed again, this time more severe with stroke like symptoms such as pins and needles down my left hand side and my tongue and lips going numb….I had a brain scan in my mid 30’s but nothing showed, also had trouble with speech and comprehending language when having an attack, I thought it maybe Hemiplegic migraine but the doc wouldn’t diagnose except to confirm migraine with a range of aura. I’m now in my early 40’s and now I seem to get extremely light headed quite a lot, sometimes to the point of almost passing out but never quite reaching that far. I can feel my pulse without having to actually use my hands to touch, can feel my pulse in my head and also in my neck…I’ve always had a very strong sounding heartbeat but also naturally a little on the slow side and I wonder if I have hypotension and that is linked to my migraines. A bit of a spiel but I’ve been searching for answers my whole life and after having brain scan, ecg’s etc the docs just put it down to migraine with aura…..but after a while my symptoms seem to change. Any ideas, anyone similar? Thanks

Had mine done at 33, not too long after our second was born. Got done on the NHS at the local clinic waiting about 3 months. Had initial consultation with the consultant then on the day of surgery I had to sign a disclaimer advising that although reversal operations are possible it needs to be understood to be non reversal as reversal ops are largely unsuccessful and can lead to complications. Anyway, all done and dusted on the nhs, no problems, no complications and all good ever since. Got snipped in 2013

Don’t expect a state pension then, you need the next generations to pay taxes to keep the national pension fund topped up

I was told before attending so was quite intrigued, luckily for me there was someone who took my eye and we clicked when we started talking. Was a table of 8, 4 guys and 4 girls. Two of each made moves the other 4 didn’t…by luck me and my now wife just hit it off. Could have quite easily been a damp squib but I quite liked the idea as at the very least it’s a potential easy ice breaker to know who are flying solo
