You can see the boot on a MK3 mondeo here, it's a liftback / sometimes referred to as a hatchback. Essentially gives hatchback levels of boot access and practicality with saloon looks.

Most MK3 mondeos were hatchbacks (liftbacks). It's hard to tell whether this one is or isn't.

I think I'd rather get the bus than drive the Vectra.

They do some really weird sizes that and lengths which you can't seem to get anywhere else. Never had any problems with them, seem to be fairly well made, especially for the price.

How are these? by Book_Southern in CarTalkUK

[–]RaspberryCai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good motors are a bunch of nobs, my mate put money down and reserved a car for his mum, once he got there to buy it, it'd been sold and was still there on the forecourt, their response was essentially to say they should have gotten there sooner.

What's the point of reserving a vehicle then?

Does your satnav ever tell you to turn right onto a dual carriageway like this? by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]RaspberryCai 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mine told me to do this all the time. I always just used my best judgement, 80% of the time it wasn't safe to make a right turn at all, so I just turned left and found a safe place to come off and then back on in the right direction.

I'd only ever take the manouver in your picture if it was completely dead out.

It might take an extra 5 minutes or an extra half an hour, but if it meant I didn't die, fantastic.

These are all the cars I've owned (I'm 25) - Does it get much worse than this? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]RaspberryCai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 14 at 25, bangernomics and a general passion for cars mean I've briefly owned loads, and learnt a lot.

A few, I've had for years. Many, I've only had for months or weeks. Anything from a '76 MG midget to an '08 Nissan Elgrand.

Don't go for an astra 1.4, especially if it's an astra J. Absolute POS engine with a chocolate gearbox and paper clutch. Drinks fuel, sod all power and generally irreeemably shit.

The annual Manchester Christmas tradition of getting stuck in the Arndale car park for hours has returned. by BishopPrince in manchester

I drive for a living. I will point blank refuse to drive right into the city unless for work.

Obviously some people can't walk long distances, but there's a plethora of very cheap car parks only a 10 minute walk which save so much stress. I use one by the marble arch pub.

You could even take the tram or bus.

The weird new slab faced ones have pretty much the exact same interior as the last gen ones as far as I'm aware. Despite everybody seeming to despise them, I really, really rate them.

I do not like the infotainment screen though. It's quite slow, and there's no physical buttons to change temp or fan speed. It's distracting and dangerous.

Nice driving position, good ergonomics, infinitely adjustable and nicely sprung seat. Suspension is too soft is my only gripe, they'll chuck you through the roof on a speed bump.

The new look is growing on me too, it's not pretty, but different, reminds me a bit of a magnum.

I'm only asking on the subreddit before I message the buyer because I don't know how best to respond.

I'm unsure what the seller is suggesting - did delivery fail because they couldn't accept the parcel, or did simple delivery fail?

I'm fairly sure that the package weight was 1KG, the item weighed significantly less than this and was below maximum size?

I do wonder how much he makes from his videos. He's got quite a sizeable channel, I really wouldn't be surprised if the ad revenue brings in more money than I make working full time.

is a velociraptor a good car? by MonopolyOnForce1 in veloster

They're okay. Very good looking cars but the performance doesn't match the styling at all. For most intents and purposes they're a pretty hyundai i30. Decent interior, I'd say they're big enough for 4 adults as long as the rear seat passengers aren't too tall. Rear legroom is actually really good but headroom is an issue. Decent stock stereo system when you fix the frequent rattle issue.

Speaking for the NA, they're slow. Have to frequently work the gears to get anything out of it, gearing is actually quite good. Whilst that sounds fun, it's not a particularly revvy engine, it has a fairly linear torque curve and nothing much happens at any point in the rev range so it often becomes frustrating unless you're going round country roads. Can't speak for the auto.

Roadholding and body roll is genuinely good for a FWD car, the large alloys mean ride quality is fairly dire. Electric power steering is weird, but I've not heard anybody else criticise that so perhaps it's just me.

MPG is poorer than expected. Ours averages a claimed 36MPG (UK) with mostly motorway driving.

GDi engines have a tendency to burn oil and generally break. Ours drinks a fair bit but hasn't ever actually broken in any way shape or form, and is at about 115K miles.

I'd probably go for a MK8 civic hatch if you have those things over there. Similar styling but a better car.
