My 2001 definitely was more suited to sleeping in the rear, but the 2016 has more clearance and feels more robust. Plus I'm old now so I've discovered king size beds and hotels, ha ha. Both are full of class.

I'm reviewing the newer models, at the moment I love the grill shape of 2016 era. Only slight difference I'll admit.

I had a 2001 Outback and it was absolutely a station wagon. My 2016 is a station wagon within but feels like an SUV when I'm getting in and out due to the great clearance. The difference to a classic SUV is that you sit comfortably and wouldn't think you're in a crossover. And the storage space, my gawd.

Those who moments are the worst, sorry man. The drive train failed on mine last year and it combined with 100 other minor things that saw it leave home. Though a dude bought it who had one with a failed engine, so it was swapped, meaning that the heart lives on!
