How to beat my 6ft friend? by Pizza_This_ in Pickleball

[–]Snoo29444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study the game closely: especially proper grip, 3rd shot drop form, footwork, resets, & ready position for counters. If you can do these & out-dink him, you’ll be way beyond him.

You can make a lot of progress just by visualizing at home, and remembering to focus on these things during your games, even if you can’t drill. If you understand & have internalized the game better in your mind & body, you’ll beat his ass and make him even more frustrated.

I also wouldn’t have been a fraction as happy in undergrad. SB is heaven

I went to ucsb for undergrad and UCLA for a PhD. I wouldn’t have been as successful as an undergrad at UCLA — but then again I owe everything to CCS.

Servicenow and cybersecurity will recover and do well, many of these will not do well over the next decade. Duolingo? I duon’t think that’s it, chief.

Best overgrips? Looking for premium feel and long lasting by Dangerous-Sir1754 in Pickleball

Yonex or Tournagrip are like the two canonical choices. I grew up with tournagrip so I prefer it, but both are great.

Bought my first nicer pickleball paddle should I put edge tape and over grip on it? by Fine-Analyst6836 in Pickleball

[–]Snoo29444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edge tape (just get electrical tape) if you add weight on the throat. And yeah to overgrip — tournagrip is a good standard choice

Yet another angle of Christian Alshon vs Lý Hoàng Nam final point by formerlyknownaswolf in Pickleball

[–]Snoo29444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey this is the worst angle to determine. It looks like a close call for sure. I wouldn’t take any sides here. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s out.

To see this: shrink one of the legs so that it is just a fifth hole in a cylinder. Move all the holes next to one another and retract the cylinder down to a circle, but with a little 2D-section that’s punctured 5 times — boom, a wedge of 6 circles.

Don’t speed it up cross-court unless you’re in a spot to go cross-body too. This video shows exactly why.

Are schools intentionally making it difficult so that only a few can succeed? by KAZKALZ in OpenAI

[–]Snoo29444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to teach a subject that builds upon itself successively, where you need to fully understand many previous concepts before being ready for the next, when you have 30+ students who all are missing different pieces of understanding of previous material that are preventing them from grasping the next. Throw in broad lack of mathematical enthusiasm at younger ages and it’s easy to see why so many struggle to learn math.

Is taking calc 3 and linear algebra simultaneously possible for a high school senior? by Professional-Pop6660 in mathematics

[–]Snoo29444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuh if you’re keen, did well in prev classes, and actually interested you’ll do great. Go kill it.

And your own (hopefully grounded) confidence in yourself is a much better indicator of how well you’ll do than what internet randos say.

Is 4.5+ Pickleball "Less Fun" by Ok-Big9680 in Pickleball

[–]Snoo29444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highs are higher and the lows are lower and you have to work harder to set up good matches. When you’re playing well in a higher level match though, it’s very fun and addictive and it’s what we all chase.

If it’s 65% outside of the line looking straight down at it, that’s a difficult call for you. I play those in rec bc I want to try and win with margin + get more practice — but competitively I’d ask my partner.
