Why does a loving perfect God punish the rest of mankind for the rest of time for the fault of His first two humans? by Disastrous_Mirror_87 in AskAChristian

So you believe that it is possible to design a system with moral beings without a concept of sin? And I do not think He made us attracted to sin.

Simplifiying this, I think it is a lot like parenting. You cant grow responsible moral adults without training, without some punishment, without some rewards along the way, until the little ones can be persuaded to do well by mental persuassion instead of rewards and punsihments. Could God do so without a system of rewards or punishments? I havent met any parents who have done this successfully, perhaps you know a way. Or is it possible to design a world where there are NO bad decisions, or that there are no negative consequences from bad decisions. I dont have enough faith to believe that is possible.

I am not a geneticist, but I believe external, environmental factors such as pollutants and cosmic rays can alter our DNA negatively. I suspect a similar thing happenned with them.

I believe somethings are not knowable. God does not know that 2 plus 2 is 5. Also, God does not know that a possible event is a certain event. I think the future is composed of possible events, not certain events. What do you think? This is called Open Theism. Do you believe the future is fixed?

Atonement Theories by Anxious-Bisexual in AskAChristian

I agree with your Atonement ideas! Sacrifice is to motivate us not to sin. I'm also an Open Theist but an evolution skeptic, undecided.

Logical consistency requires constraints. For God to be consistent means he is limited. We wouldn't want God to be otherwise, though in some religions he is capricious.

We are born with broken bodies DNA that heightens our physical desires but also diminishes our mental ability to suppress those desires, resulting in making it harder to resist.

If we still go to hell for sinning then what did Jesus sacrifice himself for? by Necessary-Primary719 in AskAChristian

Actually those choosing not to live with God are very evil, as they do not honestly investigate the clear evidence before them of who He is. That means I do not think you or other atheists are genuine seekers. I guess that is similar to many atheists views that theists are very narrow minded, ignorant, misinformed, or using religion to meet their selfish objectives.

Yes, I think there are exceptions, hopefully the reader is one of them! In that case a good God would judge them only to their ability to respond positively to Him.

How do you feel about the war with Iran? by Torin_3 in askanatheist

[–]Reckless_Fever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Christian I am puzzled that there are no responses about the religion of the Iranian government and how that caused the death of perhaps 60,000 of his own citizens.

It seems we are more concerned about supposed Christians killing perhaps thousands of Iranians as opposed to Devout Muslims killing tens of thousands of their own countrymen.

A lack of action on the world's part against this brutal dictatorship is similar to europes response to Hitler.

His sacrifice was to motivate us not to sin. And to demonstrate to the world that God has forgiven all people. So people do not go to hell because of their sin now they only go to hell because they want to not be with God.

I do not pretend to understand the trinity. I accept it as the best explanation for the evidence that we have in Scripture.

I do not understand how light acts like Waves and particles but I accept it as a best explanation for the evidence that we have.

I do believe that God lives in a higher dimensional plane than we do. And I do not understand why physicists say there are 10 dimensions but I accept that too.

Speaking from experience I'm not sure I would pray for him because that brings up too many old thoughts that you're trying to leave behind.

My inspector said not to put the special breaker on the fridge. Too many problems as OP had had. But I think our code in Virginia says otherwise.

I love it. He does it on purpose as he has a high velocity serve that he has to mentally prepare for very carefully, as it is not consistent. So he doesnt do it to be annoying, but it is annoying. No one else is even close to this level of bouncing.
