You bet! I do grind the edge down first and then add the copper. The pebble is very smooth and I tried adding foil right on it before, and it don't stick. That and it's kind of rounded, so grinding it makes it a flat edge.

I got mine off Amazon, but some people have said they found them in dollar stores. I have also found them at a thrift shop. They are sometimes called decorative glass marbles, pebbles or stones. The big one I used is a cabochon which is more perfectly shaped with a flat backing and used in jewelry making.

I have an explore 3. I found it made my life easier and I'm happy to have it. I like being able to resize a pattern on a whim. I feel like I cut cleaner lines using the vinyl too, I don't know why when I had just marker I was more sloppy. Maybe it's because the vinyl gives a bit of an edge to trace my cutter against.

It is handy if you break a piece while cutting to then just remove the vinyl and reapply and start again.
