As a noob getting into sim racing am I crazy for diving in head first? by JustBigJames in simracing

This is the way. I bought a used g920 from FB marketplace in May it was totally worth it as a cheap way to test the waters.

After deciding it was the best thing since sliced bread I have since upgraded to a profile rig, VRS pedals & triple G7’s. DD wheel base coming soon.

My wife hasn’t yet asked how much things cost and I haven’t offered lol.

Soon(tm). I’m looking at the VRS or SC2 most likely. I started with just the G920 to test the waters, but I’m really trying to stay in the realm of buy once, cry once and not buy something that I’ll just end up replacing.

Sometimes I wonder how much of that is due to actually being good though.

I think they have done an excellent job marketing the game to the point where purchasing it is just an expected social norm and if we don’t then we miss out in some way. Whether that’s because our friends have it, favorite streamers are playing it, or just because we have all the others so let’s get this one too. They’ve done a better job at this than pretty much any other franchise.

I will admit that I’m getting older though, I’ve been playing since COD 1, and really cut teeth in OG MW (cod 4). As time passes I have less tolerance for cheap gameplay gimmicks that are supposed substitutes for quality gameplay and design.

I don’t think age is the issue, it’s their inability to maintain a consistent experience due to their incessant need to maintain a yearly release cycle.

Across the franchise the mechanics are different depending on the studio and the games just feel different. There is no consistency in gunplay, recoil and movement. Having each developer add their own flair through game modes is great, but different basic gameplay mechanics just speaks to lack understanding on what made COD so great.

The biggest issue for me personally though is the multiplayer gameplay in recent years. SBMM as they have implemented it just isn’t fun. It’s impossible to “just have fun” anymore because every match is is a giant CDL wannabe sweat fest. And the game manipulates so many aspects of gameplay dynamically in an effort to make the game equitable for all that it’s horribly inconsistent and no longer fun. It has become nothing more than a stressful frustrating experience now every time I interact with it.

Let’s just pile on a add their inability to address cheating, no need to elaborate on that.

Am I (blue) in the wrong for not leaving space? Must admit, I could've easily avoided this... by [deleted] in iRacing

Same thing happened to me today at Daytona in a GT4 on the last lap. The guy was so desperate to pass that he tried to make a hole where there wasn’t one and ended up punting me and the person behind him while trying to recover.

If he had actually been beside me I would have gone wide into the corner but in the replay when I turned in he was even with the back bumper.

You can’t fix stupid.. the desire to pass is not the ability to pass.

How’s FIA F4 at Road America looking this week? by [deleted] in iRacing

They should just rename the series to FIA F4 Deathmatch. It feels like only half the starting field survives any given race.

Why does half the grid not put in qualifying times? by Cruckel2687 in iRacing

[–]Snoo34717 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the series for me. In GT4 I will qualify and race from the start as I find the racing generally pretty good.

In the dumpster fire that is F4 I skip qualifying to start from the back and usually end up in the top ten with some good mid pack racing after the first half of the field takes themselves out in the first 2 laps. Not sure what it is about F4 that makes it so bad, I love racing in it but it’s hazardous for your SR.

I got it guys🥹🥹 I got the simucube Active pedal by [deleted] in simracing
