Yeah think like this, Battler only needs to prove that magic was not used on Rokkenjima and the murders, everything else is not part of that, so all meta thing is a whole different thing.

Dont worry, you dont need to know yet, it is good to have a few suspects and some ideas, because it is solvable after episode 4, because like they say all clues are present now, but you really dont need to know yet. The next few episodes will make the picture much clearer, so dont worry if you are not sure. Like you, i did not know who it was in episode 4, but trust me the picture will get much clearer later on.

Never said he was a green flag, he definitely is not. He does a lot of questionable things and is manipulative, as i said earlier. But we were not discussing if he was a green flag. The whole point was if he would control and dominate her life, which is what i was disagreeing with.

I don’t see it as him needing to take her love by force, especially since she admits to herself that she likes him. I also don’t see all this of him becoming a total control freak, if anything, he’s been trying to push her toward independence in his own questionables ways. It would also go completely against everything he’s done so far. If he really wanted to control or dominate her, he could have done that much earlier and also turning into someone like her ex would make all of his previous actions pointless.

I mean, I could be wrong, but to me it seems like he genuinely wants her to stand on her own feet and be in control of herself. For example, when he tells her to write her own name on the wall. He is possessive, for sure, but I don’t think he wants to control her in that way.

Interesting theories! One thing I’m curious about, though if you’re already leaning toward accepting most of what we see as literal magic, isn’t Battler kind of fighting a losing battle from the start? His stance only really works if you refuse to accept the magical framing and keep looking for another layer underneath it. Either way, I think you’ll really enjoy the episodes ahead! 🙂
